OUR STORY
Our Journey of Care and Commitment
Wendell Goudell Dean II started this journey back in late 1981, working part-time at Cedar Crest Funeral Home under the leadership of Mr. Keith A. McSweeney. At that time, Mr. Dean was working in the engineering department of the then Ambassador Beach Hotel, now Super Club Breezes Bahamas.
Mr. Dean had been accepted to engineering school in Texas. One morning, while in the shower preparing for work, the Lord appeared to him in a vision and showed him his calling in Funeral Service. During that week, he spoke with Mr. McSweeney about Mortuary Colleges. He applied to Commonwealth College of Funeral Service, 215 Dennis Street, Houston, Texas. Mr. Dean enrolled in the spring class of 1984.
Upon returning to the Bahamas in June of 1985 Mr. Dean was unable to find work for awhile, then in November 1985 he was employed for a short time at Curtis Memorial Mortuary, in 1986 he was re-employed with Cedar Crest Funeral Home, then at Rolle’s Funeral Home as Manager, Rock of Ages Funeral Chapel, The Good Shepherd Funeral Home and Bethel Brothers Morticians. With some thirteen years of experience, Mr. Dean decided to fulfill the call of God on his life to serve the families of the Bahamas.

Jones-Dean was born on Thursday, August 02, 1962, in the city of Nassau, on the Island of New Providence, Bahamas. He attended Sayles Primary, Bahamas Academy, and A. F. Adderley Senior High Schools. He is also a 1985 Graduate of the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service, formerly Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas.
He is the father of two sons, Chas Elijah Roshad and Wendell G. Dean III. He is also a member of the historic Bethel Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the late Rev. Dr. H. W. Brown and its present pastor, Rev. Timothy Stewart.
