William Theophilus Cravatt Jr. Age 52 Years of #13 Elizabeth Street, off Parkgate Road
Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas, was called into eternal rest at the
Princess Margaret Hospital on Thursday, December 27, 2007.
William was born Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas on Tuesday, August 23, 1955.
He was the first of five children born to this union. From the onset, William took his
position as the eldest as a privilege and had no difficulty in reminding the others that he
was the one in charge. This take-charge attitude resulted in him being called "Guts".
He became the protector of his siblings and because of this no one had the nerve to bother with any of his sisters.
In 1988, he rededicated his life to the Lord and as a result of a church street meeting and
joined the Bethel Baptist Family. In August of that same year, he met a lovely Elaine Burrows
who was introduced to him by his co-worker Debbie. It took him just three months to decide
that he had met the woman of his dreams and proposed, they were married
on Saturday, January 28, 1989 in five weeks he would have celebrated his nineteen
Wedding Anniversary. He gained five children by marriage in addition to his son
Dario whom he had previously. He was ecstatic when their union was blessed with
the birth of a beautiful daughter named Willesha who became the apple of his eye.
He was also affectionately called "Cherry Man" by his friends and gained his
early education at the St. Francis, Oakes Field Primary and H. O. Nash High Schools.
William was extremely resourceful with his hands and found himself involved in many
entrepreneurial projects. He was very inventive and full of ideas and always looking for
ways for a better way of living. He worked at several resorts including Howard Johnson
as a Sous Chef, the last being Club Med where he was employed for twenty-two years until they closed.
At the time of his demise, he was employed at Uncor Global Security Company and Global United Limited.
He was born into a family blessed with gifted of singing and therefore he had
a great passion for singing and used every avenue to share this rare gift with others.
He was known for his creativity of style with clothing which he loved to accessorize with hats.
William loved sports and was involved Karate and Kickboxing. He has a life –long love for
Softball and was a member of various teams in the Old Timers Softball league.
He was also member of the One Family Junkanoo Group.
William is preceded in death by his:
