Wilfred "Sir K" Kelly I

April 1, 1942 — September 21, 2012

#6 Orange Blossom Avenue, Gadren Hills #3

Wilfred "Sir K' Kelly I Age 70 Years of #6 Orange Blossom Avenue,
off Poppy Avenue Garden Hills No.3 baked his final loaf,
at his residence on Friday, September 21, 2012.

He was born at Congo Town, South Andros, The Bahamas on Wednesday, April 01, 1942.
Like the rest of his siblings, Wilfred spiritual and moral foundation began when his
parents saw to it that he was brought up in the fear and admonition of God.
Their home was a strong Christian environment.

This was further enhanced at the St. John's Baptist Church, Congo Town,
where his family attended every service including Sunday School, Prayer Meetings,
Choir Rehearsal and Evening Worship. This was done under the leadership of Pastor Jim Duncombe.

At age five, Wilfred attended the All Age Public School, Long Bay Cays, Andros
with his other siblings Herman and Marilyn (Mary).

Wilfred was a quiet and obedient child who knew the value of hard work by helping his
parents with farming and other chores which better equipped him for greater responsibilities.

After completion of school, young Wilfred migrated to New Providence in search of employment.
One of his first places of employment was at the Nassau Country Club where he serviced in
the kitchen department. On 1st October, 1974 he joined the staff at Purity Bakery as a
Baker's Helper and after fourteen years of service he left Purity Bakery in June, 1988.
Wilfred then went to work with his cousin Brudienell Kelly at Bro-Kell Construction f
rom January 1990 to September 30th, 2001 where he retired.

Proverbs 18:22 states "He who findeth a wife, findeth a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord".
One day, while out with a friend, Wilfred's eyes caught a glimpse of the beautiful, petite Lula Nottage
from Mason's Bay, Acklins who was living with her sister Ezelia. He was convinced right away that she
was the one that would be his wife. Their relationship blossomed and on Saturday, 20th October, 1962
they were united in holy matrimony. She affectionately referred to him as "Sir K" or "Kelly" and he called her Lulie.

This union became more enriched having been blessed by God with twelve wonderful gems;
Walter (deceased), Wilfred, Paula, Stephanie (deceased), Gary, Patrice, Mary, Melonie, Rodger,
Nadia, Dannielyn and Pamela. Together, they both enjoyed nurturing and caring for them.

"Sir K" was a very family orientated man who loved and treasured his wife, children, grand and
great grand children with all his heart. He made every effort to ensure that they were properly cared for.
His grand and great grand children were his pride and joy as he spent numerous times babysitting them.
They affectionately called him "Old Man Jenkins".

He also played an integral role in the lives of so many others whether they were family members friends
or whomever he was able to touch. Whatever role he played he took it very seriously. He provided support,
encouragement and resources unselfishly. His home became a place of refuge for family and friends and
many of them can recall the blessing of a loaf or loaves of bread that was sent their way.

It was not by his words that one could tell, but "Sir K" or "Old Man Jenkins" demonstrated the
characteristics of honesty, charity and love. He was the painter in the family and could be trusted
to carry out his task alone at any home because of his honesty and integrity.

For many years, "Sir K" was diagnosed with diabetes which he tried to keep under control.
This disease however, led to other health problems, including high blood pressure.
These health issues took a toll on his body and as time progressed his condition deteriorated,
resulting in hospitalization from time to time. In 2011, "Sir K" underwent surgery for the
amputation of one of his leg and July of this year he lost of vision in one of his eye.

For better, for worse, in sickness and in health, until death do us part".  Lulie was a faithful wife
who demonstrated unyielding devotion and commitment to her marriage covenant. She lovingly
cared for her husband "Sir K" and did her best to make him as comfortable as possible.
