Stafford Willie Musgrove Age 73 Years of #34 Isabella Boulevard,
Marathon Estates was called to a fuller life, at Doctors Hospital on
Wednesday, December 03, 2008.
He was born at The Hermitage Exuma, Bahamas on
Wednesday, January 09, 1935. He received his early education
at Moss Town All Age School where he served as Monitor and a
Pupil Teacher under Mr. Felix G. Deleveaux. He received
numerous certificates in Marine Engineering from National
Technical School in Automotive – Diesel Master Course from
Los Angeles California. He attended many workshops and short
courses both locally in the United Kingdom and the United States.
In 1956 he met Prescola Gilbert at Salem Union Baptist Chruch,
Parliament Street, there they were later married on Wednesday, April 22, 1959.
This union produced four children Andre Sr., Marva, Vanya and Lynnaire.
Stafford was devoted to his immediate and extended family's concerns,
always willing to solve a problem or lend a helping hand. Although being
very quiet in nature, he was very profound in thoughts. He only accepted
the best; a no-nonsense person, one who never associated himself with mediocrity.
Being a tradesman at heart, in the 1950's Stafford came to Nassau in search
of employment. He earned his first job as a stock taker at Symonette's Shipyard.
There he worked for a short period before joining the Port Department in 1956.
At the Port Department which later became the Port Authority,
Stafford through his hard work and dedication went through the ranks from
Messenger, Dredge Engineer, Senior Tug Engineer, Mechanical Superintendent
to Assistant Port Controller. In 1995 he retired as the Deputy Port Controller.
Overall, Stafford was a highly competent, reliable officer who went the extra
mile in the execution of his duties and willingly assisted in areas outside the
parameters of his day-to-day obligations.
At an early age, Stafford accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour.
He was an active member of the Salem Union Baptist Church, having
served as Recording Secretary, a member of the Men's Fellowship Choir,
Senior Choir and Bahamas Baptist Union Choir.
