Spellman Munroe Jr.

August 12, 1969 — July 31, 2018

Nassau

Spellman "Rasta" Munroe Jr. Age 48 Enes Street, off Johnson Road, Fox Hill
Completed his earthly walk of this life, at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Tuesday, July 31, 2018.

He was born at Nassau, New Providence, the Bahamas on Tuesday, August 12, 1969. "Junior",
as he was affectionately called by his family, was a quiet, loving, caring, adventurous and strong-willed child.

Junior's educational journey began at the Quarry Mission Primary School.
He then went on to attend Wilton Albury Primary, H. O. Nash Junior High, and finally,
C. C. Sweeting Senior High, from which he graduated in 1986.

Junior was a very industrious and hardworking young man. He labored diligently with his hands
doing every kind of work to support himself and his family. Over the years he worked as a waiter
at Pirates Cove, Paradise Island and a landscaper's assistant at Nature's Helper's Landscaping.
He also worked for a number of years with his brother, Captain, Prince Munroe as a deckhand
on the Motor Vessel "Lady D" which travelled to Central Andros weekly. His final line of
employment was as a handyman at the restaurant "Island Delight" located on Potter's Cay Dock,
where he worked until his demise.

Junior loved to sing and play his guitar. He envisioned himself as the "Bahamian Bob Marley".
He would often tell his family that he would one day produce a record and become a famous singer.
But he was always encouraged by his siblings "Not to quit his day job". He got his inspiration from
reading the Bible. This practice also contributed to him maintaining a humble and honest attitude.

Junkanoo was also a passion for Junior. Like most of the young men in Farrington Road, he began his
Junkanoo journey with Quinton "Barabbas" Woodside in the Valley Boys. After the "BIG SPLIT", he
left and joined the Roots Junkanoo group as a drummer and later, the Redland Soldiers Junkanoo group.
He considered himself one of the "best pasters" and always bragged that he would be the prettiest
on the backline.

On Tuesday, July 31st 2018, Junior left work about 4 p.m. and told his co-workers that he was "going home".
On his way there, he was involved in a tragic traffic accident and died a few hours later at the Princess
Margaret Hospital.

We will all remember his laughter, his special singing voice and his love and dedication to his family
and friends. May his soul rest in peace.
