Shirley May McQueen Age 78 Years of Allen Drive, off Fire Trail Road East, exchange time for eternity, at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
She was born at Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas on Thursday, July 10, 1947 to Jeremiah (Jack) and Irene Sherman-McQueen.
Baptism and Education:
She was baptized at St. Joseph’s Parish according to the rite of the Roman Catholic Church,
by Fr. Marcian Peters O. S. B. She was educated at St. Joseph’s School.
A Time to Work:
In the early 60’s and 70’s Shirley worked at the Nassau Beach Hotel, Sonesta Beach Hotel, Grey Cliff, Nola’s Baked Crab, Maid for Rev. Simeon Hall, Rev. Colebrook of St. Paul’s Baptist Church Baillou Hill Road and Bias Street, where she was a member.
She cooked for the Mortimer’s qat Fort Fincastle, she was a cook at Percy’s Restaurant and Bar East Street Hill, just to mention a few, she was a great cook.
A Time to Play:
Shirley would sometimes play with some of her grandchildren, son-in-law. Her games were pokeno, marbles, ducking you with water, card games like 3 pairs and tunk, these she enjoyed.
A Time to be Harsh and A Time to love:
Shirley was a strong-minded person, her favorite words were, when I die I een ga purge, God bless the child that has its own. There were times when she would rule with an iron fist as it were, then sometimes she would show love, she will also take in strangers if they were homeless.
She will be missed by her family and care takers, thank you for helping me with mommy during her time of illness. She had dementia, she had a slight stroke and he was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital by ambulance around 9am on Sunday, January 11, 2026, we got to know she had caught Pneumonia after they ran some test on her.
A Time to die:
On Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 1:41 a.m. Shirley passed away in the Trauma Room, she was a plp and died a plp.

Mother: Irene Sherman-McQueen;

Nephews: Julie Gibson-Donald and Charles Alton McQueen;
