Shedreck Campbell "Sugar Boy" Dean Age 75 years of Cambridge Street, 
Hatchet Bay Eleuthera, The Bahamas fought his last round and installed his final plumbing,
at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Friday, June 24, 2016.


It was only one month into summer, when on the Tuesday, July 16, 1940
the beautiful settlement of Hatchet Bay Eleuthera, The Bahamas was filled with excitement,
when George Henry and Remona Curlene Bethel-Dean, share with the world their eleventh
child and seventh son, whom they named Shedreck Campbell.


Shedreck attended the All Age School at Hatchet Bay, after his schooling,
like most of the young boys of his generation, he went to work at the Harrisville Company.


Campbell as he was known by his pairs, love sports and he along with his
brothers, were avid boxing fans so much so that he himself became a boxer.
As a boxer in the Welter Weight Class, he was a knock out artist and had
many historic bouts, one of which was with Ray Minus Sr. for the Welter Weight Championship Title.


Sugar Boy as he is known by all, was a loving and caring father, grandfather,
brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Sugar lived in the United States for a time,
before moving back to the Bahamas, where he worked at the then Department
of Public Works (Ministry of Works).


Upon his retirement Sugar Boy moved back home to Hatchet Bay,
where he was involved in community building and was also known throughout
the Island of Eleuthera. He was a plumber by profession and was the best at it,
he always made sure that he gave his best to the clients he served.


Sugar boy worshiped at the historic St. Stephen's Baptist in Hatchet Bay,
where he was instrumental in seeing to it the best plumbing job was done
at little or no cost. He was a man of faith, which was thought him by his parents,
and was a part of the man's group and the Bay Men Cousins Singing Group.
He was also a lodge man and a member of the Elks and Masons Lodge's.


Father's day for us will not be the same again, but more so the two days following.
Sugar was airlifted to Nassau on Tuesday, June 212, 2016 for emergency medical attention.
He fought as hard as he could, being the fighter he was, but it was not God'
will that he would be here with us any longer.


On Friday, June 24, 2016 after all his toils of this life, "Sugar Boy" complete
his last plumbing installation and answered his final bell, Round 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11,
12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37,
38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63,
64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75…….


He is now installing plumbing in his new mansion and I sure every now and then,
he may get in the ring with some of the great boxers who have gone on before……. Rest on "Champ"
