Shawn Kent "Yardman" McKenzie Age 50 Years of #16 Cedar Terrace, Tall Pines
completed his final craft, at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
Shawn was born at Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas on Thursday, July 13, 1972.
Shawn was a lovable busy child. He loved to play, he loved the outdoors he loved friends.
Shawn attended Ridgeland Park Roberts primary School, CH Reeves Junior high and he
would graduate from Government High School (GHS).
He was never shy, a complete extrovert. While at school Shawn knew
everyone and everyone knew him. He was popular with teachers and students,
some of whom he remain friends with up to the end.
Shawn was ambitious and when he graduated, he made up his mind on what he wanted to do and did it.
He decided to grow his hair and started the Rastafarian faith. His hair grew fast and long and it was always
well kept and wrapped neatly. A sign of his Rastafarian faith.
Shawn had several jobs his longest being at Atlantis where he was eventually let go because
he refused to cut his hair. Moving forward he did his own thing and started his business
selling clothing and handmade wood carved pieces. He was very talented in this area.
He loved to dress up and look good and he was a great father to his children.
As time went on Shawn had an accident where he lost sight in one of his eyes and had problems
with the other. This was an inconvenience, but he didn't let it keep him back. He struggled on.
He remained in close contact with his brothers and family especially his sister Philippa.
She was more like a mother not the big sister. He had close friends who were near and there to
him and through everything they remain close. He made an impact on the life of a few
young men though he may not have known.
Shawn lost his eldest child tragically and this had a major impact on him.
I don't think any of us knew how great an impact. He grew closer to his children
who were his life especially his son Shawn Jr.
On Wednesday November 30th Shawn felt ill and told the ladies at Olives Medical Center.
He experienced heart problems earlier in his life and taking no chance they called an
ambulance for him. Shawn walked into that ambulance and was taken away never to return.
The Angels came and took him home a short time later to his home of eternal peace and rest.
He told his brother he was going to take a trip but who knew that was the trip he was taking.
