Senior Deacon Jonathan Justice "Johnny" Jones Sr. Age 75 Years of Sea Grape Eight Mile Rock,
Grand Bahama dropped of his last fare, at his residence on Tuesday, April 27, 1999.
He was born on Monday, March 03, 1924 in the settlement of Bottle Creek, North Caicos
Turks and Caicos Islands. He was the last of six children; he received his early education
at bottle creek and matured into a fine young man. Johnny found a good wife in Bernice Forbes
his first wife and was happily married for thirty-eight years.
Johnny was ambitious, he was determined to provide for his family and improve their way of living.
He migrated to the Bahamas, where he lived in Inagua and in settlements of Pine Ridge and Sea Grape,
Grand Bahama. Johnny's' employment experience was at Freeport Power, Batelco, Borco,
the Bahamas Princess El Casino and he was also a self-employed Taxi operator.
He loved the hospitality industry; he dazzled many with his fun-loving attitude and charm for
many years. He attained the affectionate name of "Doc., J.J." which later graduated to "Paps".
In 1985, a new page in Johnny's life was turned, he became a born-again Christian.
He was a jubilant Christian, who loved talking about the Lord. Johnny was devoted and he took
pleasure in doing the work of the Lord. He served as choir master, a prayer band couch and
became an ordained deacon, he was an effective counselor.
On Saturday, February 27, 1988 Johnny found another good wife, in the person of Gloria Bain.
This union bloomed until his demise. Johnny was a loving husband, a caring father, a concern
uncle, a friend indeed, a terrific father-in-law, a dear cousin, a wonderful grandfather,
an affectionate great grand father, Johnny was a no-nonsense man. He never hesitated to let all
his family members know that he was from the old school. Discipline, manners and respect was the order of the day.
Johnny had a blissful life, he lived quietly and he died quietly. He was the last of his siblings to die.
