Rosabell Genesta Daniels Rolle

June 8, 1942 — April 11, 2024

McQueens

Rosabell Genesta Daniels-Rolle Age: 81 Years of McQueen's Cat Island, The Bahamas
exchange time for eternity
at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

She was born at Old Bight Cat Island, The Bahamas on Monday, June 08, 1842. Rosie
as she was affectionately called grew up to be a beautiful light skinned young lady
with long flowing hair.

She attended the old bight all age school. Rosie grew up in a humble home,
where she was taught the fear of the lord.

She was taught how to share and care for her younger siblings, being the second oldest,
she sometimes used her seniority over her younger siblings and made them do the majority of the chores.

She was active in church and sang in the choir along with her older sister.

At the age of 19 Rosie met and married the handsome Henry Almund Rolle.

The newlyweds located to new providence for a while, but eventually returned to cat island
where they settled in McQueens and started a family.

Rosie was an industrious woman, she took on multiple tasks in order to care for her family
working for winter residents in Hawkes nest, beating rocks, farming and straw vendor.

She was famous for braiding hair especially on Sunday evenings. She was also her boys barber.

She was the flour cake queen. People came from all over just to have her cakes.
Especially during regatta times.

She was a stern non nonsense woman. She would "wail your tail" with anything within her reach.

She fed her children from the same plate and drank from the same cup in order to teach them how to share.

Things were not always easy. Our family had its share of challenges,
but Rosie always made sure her children were taken care of, even if she went without.

On Sunday morning after having our stew fish and potato bread. Mammie would take us to church,
no excuses. Sometimes up to three services on any given sunday. This was preparation for our future,
to always put God first. Without him we are nothing.

She taught us to pray every night before we went to sleep. It took us a while to get to sleep
because each child took turns saying goodnight making sure no one was left out.

She looked forward to having her grandchildren every summer. She would take them with her to cut top
for plaiting and in the field. She would have them pray and read the Bible with her every night,
afterward they would brag about who read the best.

On Sunday mornings her and daddy could be seen walking the sand road taking their grandchildren to church.

At church just as she did with us, no one could move or utter a word, her hand would come out of
nowhere or you would feel her eyes burning through the back of your head.

As time went on Rosie's steps became slow and simple tasks became difficult, not being able to
handle daily activities, she relocated to Nassau on September 2023, to be close to her children.

Rosie's desire was to go back home. So in January she visited her earthly home for the last time.

Through her illness she always had a positive attitude, she would be seen reading her
Bible and lifting her hands in worship.

She said she was tired and ready when Jesus comes for her.

On March 31 she was taken to hospital due to complications with breathing.

On April 1st she was admitted and was being treated for pneumonia. On that same day she became
unresponsive and remained in this condition until the early hours of April 11th when the lord took
her to her eternal home. May her soul rest in peace!!!
