Renaldo Demetri "Shorts" Forbes age 26 years of #582 Jacaranda Street,
Pinewood Gardens completed his time on earth on Sunday, December 12, 2010.
He was born at Nassau N. P. Bahamas on Monday, April 09, 1984.
For 26 years Renaldo existed on this earth. From infancy he began to enrich
the lives of all with whom he came into contact. Those of us who met and interacted
with him will, no doubt, identify with the phrase "gone too soon" but must necessarily
be consoled in the thought that the life-span of a being is in the hand of God.
Who can forget that charming, endearing personality – that smile that engulfed his
whole being and infected his entire audience? His sense of humor and mischievous
nature always brought laughter making him the life of the party and winning him
friends and influence.
In spite of his imperfections, Renaldo's life was punctuated by his gentlemanly
demeanor – kind, caring, loyal; always ready to offer positive advice. He was
blessed with the special ability to analyze a situation and sometimes offered
unsolicited evaluation which one had to consider.
Renaldo's early education commenced at the C. W. Sawyer Primary School.
He also attended Respect Academy, C. C. Sweeting Junior High School and
graduated from C. R. Walker Secondary School in 2001.
Although short in stature, Renaldo was once an avid basketball player until
he was diagnosed with a heart condition. He however remained a sports enthusiast.
During the basketball playoffs of 2010 he watched the game at home with his mother
whilst enjoying pizza and coke soda. Unfortunately, Renaldo was left holding his head
when it was all over as his team was defeated.
Renaldo possessed an entrepreneurial spirit, always wanting to earn his own money
and, as he put it, help his mother with household expenditure and pay for whatever
he wanted. Therefore, he started his employment career as a packing boy at Super Value
Food Stores at age 13 and over the years worked as a Summer Student at various credit unions,
Micro-net Computers and Bahamas Business Solutions.
However, when his mother travelled to England to read law in 2002 he accompanied
her and during his stay attended Milton Keynes College where he obtained a Diploma
in Hospitality Management. This was followed by Internships at various Hotels and
Convention Centers in Buckingham England.
Renaldo made many friends during his stay in Buckingham with his mother and was
accepted as one of the law students as he participated where possible in any of the social
events undertaken by the various societies.
Having returned home from England, he enrolled at Cambridge International College of
Canada in Ontario Canada, where he achieved Seven (7) GCE 'A' levels and was named the
most outstanding student in Political Science for that year.
He also had a keen interest in foreign language and culture and his thirst and passion for
knowledge led him to participate in the Spanish Immersion Program. He travelled to Costa
Rica on several occasions where he became semi-literate in the Spanish language and the
Costa Rican culture.
Renaldo always expressed an interest in becoming a lawyer, no doubt inspired by his mother
with whom he had a special bond and love. In pursuit of his ultimate dream and aspiration
Renaldo applied and was accepted at the University of Buckingham in 2008 to read law and
remained until April 2010 when he returned home after his mother decided to open her law
practice. Had he remained, he was scheduled to graduate in December 2010.
His first full time employment was in his mother's firm of Hailshams Legal Associates as Legal
Assistant where his duties included legal Research, obtaining court dates and any other assignments
which were considered necessary for the enhancement of his future legal career. He recently attended
and participated in a seminar held by the Bahamas Bar Association to review the Draft Civil Procedure
Bill. Renaldo was excited about becoming a lawyer and one day managing the firm.
