Philip Sands

Philip Sands Age: 56 Years of #25 St. John Avenue, off Buttonwood Avenue, 
Pinewood Gardens, completed his final grave and repaired his last engine at 
the Princess Margaret Hospital on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

Philip was born at Little Creek South Andros, The Bahamas on Saturday, December 17, 1966.

Phillip received his early Education at Pleasant Bay All Age School. When his family moved to Nassau, 
he furthered his education at C. W. Sawyer primary and the S.W. Sawyer Junior High School.

Phillip was a loving, passionate, hardworking man who enjoyed working with his hands. 
As a result of his passion, he worked as a mechanical engineer/operator. 
Travelling to various islands and cays, where he gained more knowledge and experience 
in perfecting his job at Moskco Construction Company. His health began to affect his 
performance at work, as a result he became self-employed. He began his career with 
Grave Digging and Construction, assisting his father John Sands. He carried on the 
business working for various funeral homes. He worked as a mechanic repairing small 
motor equipment like lawn mower, generators and weed wacker at the time of his demise.

Phillip was raised in a Christian home and he continued his Baptist faith at Good News 
Baptist Church later on at Free in Jesus Ministry, Nassau Bahamas, he was an active 
member and served and fellowship with his Lord and Savior.   

On October 1994 Phillip met and fall in love with Marion Rolle and they were joined in 
holy matrimony. He was a dedicated husband, father of three children: Phillip Sands Jr, 
Sherwin Russell and Lekisha Rolle. He was always helpful and caring to others. 
He was a lover of birds, dogs, fishing boats, cars, motor bikes racing, traveling, mechanic, 
machine operator, telling jokes, speaking creole and attending church regularly. 

Phillip endured his sickness for many years. At times the pain was a lot to bear, though it 
all he never lost his faith in God. He fought a good fight. On Sunday 3rd September, 2023 
Phillip was admitted to male Medical Ward #2 at the Princess Margaret Hospital. 
He suffered a heart attack, doctors revived him. His health began to improved, 
then he took a turn for the worst on Sunday 10th September 2023 at 10:52 am.  
Phillip went home to be with his Lord and Savior whom he loved with his hold heart.
