Patsy Munroe Age 67 Years of #10 Windsor Street, Monastery Park
completed her earthly pilgrimage at the Princess Margaret Hospital on
Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
She was born at Forbes Hill Exuma, The Bahamas on Tuesday, December 01, 1942.
Patsy grew up with her grandmother, Mrs. Clothilda Rolle
who was a praying, God-fearing woman. Every morning,
Patsy and her other siblings were led in morning devotions
before starting their daily chores. Because of this, the principles
of prayer, family life and togetherness were instilled in her at an early age
She was educated at the Forbes' Hill All-Age School under the tutelage of
many principals including the outstanding Mr. B. F. Ferguson.
She relocated to Nassau and resided with her sister, Prescola where she
became a home-maker and assisted her with the rearing of her young children.
Later, her sister too assisted Patsy with the rearing of her children ensuring
that they went to Sunday School and were taught about the Lord.
She was blessed with Four (4) Children, Ray, Tanya, Tenera and Nadia.
She reared and provided for her children far beyond measure. Most summers,
she sacrificed sending her children on family trips when she was not able to go.
Her home was the Mecca for the family gatherings. She loved her children and
grandchildren. When they hurt, she hurt. When they were happy, she was happy.
God must have given her a glimpse of their future and hers with Him.
She must have seen great accomplishments and achievements for them all.
She must have known that everything would be alright with her children and
grandchildren, because her God was their God and He would guide, keep and
protect them. She was a reserved and pleasant person who was well loved by
all who came in contact with her. She loved to cook and bake bread. Most days
the phone would ring and you would hear one of her nieces, Nat or Lincy asking,
"Auntie Patsy, what you cook?" Her specialties were Okra soup and Stew fish.
Very rarely anyone would leave empty handed if Auntie Patsy had prepared a meal.
We will surely miss OUR CHEF GIRL ARDEE!
Patsy was employed at Sandilands Rehabilitation Center for Thirty (30) years
and in 2002, she retired. Even after she retired from Sandilands, she stayed
in contact with most of her colleagues. She always had strong words of
encouragement and was very concerned when she did not hear from her friends.
Becoming of age, Patsy accepted the Lord as her Saviour and was baptized
by her grandfather, the late, Rev. James Munroe. Patsy was able to go to
Church for her last time on Sunday, February 28, 2010 with her granddaughter,
Teneya and daughter, Nadia. She always saw it fit that her children would
go to Church even when she did not go.
