Patrick Neil Gittens-Butler Age: 62 Years of #8 Hillside Street, Hillside Estates off Mackey Street,
complete his life of service at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Thursday, April 21, 2022.

Patrick was born at Nassau, New Providence, the Bahamas on Saturday, September 26, 1959.

He received his early Education at Bahamas Academy, Stephen Dillet, and then onto
D.W Davis Junior High. Patrick being the strong headed person that he is did things
his way and marched to his own beat. The teachers soon realized that he needed more
attention and that he was more hands as a result he spent a short time at the Stapleton School.
While there he expressed a willingness to help and always had a take charge spirit.
He was taught the value of earning an honest pay and believed in the fundamental
values that by the sweat of your brow you should eat bread.

A Time to Work:
Patrick was relentless in his pursuit of finding employment and at the tender
age of nineteen (19) in 1978 he joined the staff at the Princess Margaret Hospital
as a Porter. Like with anything else he was resolute and determined, he made sure
that he was hired. It is said that every morning Patrick would get up and present
himself and at The Ministry of Health. His fortitude landed him the job at the
Princess Margaret hospital where he served with distinction and dedication for
forty-two years (42). During his tenure he worked in areas like Food Services, The Laundry,
and Security Department and up to the time of his retirement Human Resources Department.
Everyone that knows Patrick knew that Patrick went above and beyond to help people whether
it be from getting them registered, helping them find employment or getting their medication.
During the times when the hospital had Mr. Mrs. P.M.H Patrick won the coveted title and
believe you me he lived up to this title of Mr. P.M.H. Patrick again marched to his own
beat and carried himself as if he was in charge of the hospital; he knew everything
bout the hospital and in any department, once you say "Patrick" everyone would know who he was.
His hard work did not go in vain and he was recognized for his many achievements that included:

Awards:
In July of 2009 Patrick received the award for thirty (30) years for Dedicated Service.
In July 2014 Patrick received the award for thirty-five (35) years of Excellent and Quality Service
In May 2021 Patrick received the Salvo Award for forty-two (42) years of Dedicated Service.

Service:
There were many times that his family taught that Patrick didn't have a day of because everything
for him was the hospital and even on his day off he went to work. However as much as he loved
the hospital, he had a personal side and served for many years in the 24th Company of the Boys Brigade.
As a result of his dogged determination Patrick was soon elevated to the rank of Captain.
While serving in the brigade, he was instrumental in molding and inspiring many individuals.

Patrick was a friend of the community and anyone who needed help whether it be from clothing
to groceries or even giving a ride he would assist. Patrick loved to clean and iron and many times
he would go to friends and family homes to lend a helping hand. He would show up with his bucket mop,
cleaning supplies and of course starch. He would take hours on end to complete the task but by the time
he was finished you would be pleased. Patrick did things his way, he was never wrong and would argue
his point for hours on end but concluding with a rhyme. He was quick to forgive and never held
malice in his heart. Let's not forget, he would make you a bottle of Kool aide as he considered
himself the Kool aide/ punch specialist.

Patrick also had a comedic side he loved to hymn and rhyme and was a human beat box.
He during the times when the CB Radio was popular used the handle the "Medicine Man"
and would key up and makes his songs and rhymes as he communicated. He was a friendly,
caring and lovable individual; and was always prepared to help.

Religion:
Patrick stayed committed to the teachings handed down by his forefathers and stayed true
to the Seventh Day Adventist faith. On Sabbath Mornings Patrick was prompt for Church at
his home church Grants Town. He was a member of the choir and participated in the Men's Ministry.
His understanding of the word of God was a gift, as he would quote scriptures to encourage himself
and others around him. He was kind spirited, merciful and, he desired to know God.

Family:
Patrick was devoted to his siblings, he didn't have children but he took on the responsibility
of taking care of his siblings because he was the eldest son. He on many occasions with his take
charge spirit would say "come let's go" not telling you where we was going but somehow you
would end up in a grocery store and he would purchase whatever you needed.

The love commitment and devotion that he showed to his mother was phenomenal.
He did everything for his mother and provided whatever she needed to make her comfortable.
He never came home without bringing something for his darling mother. In the weeks after
his retirement, he and his mother were inseparable where you saw Patrick you saw mommy.
They provided strength and support for each other. He told his siblings that he was responsible for taking care of

mommy and he did just that. He had a bond with all his brothers but he shared a special connection
to his brother Gunny who predecease him and off course his darling Sherry.

A Time to Die:
After being ill for a considerable time, Patrick conditioned worsen and he had to be hospitalized.
On April 21st 2022 early in the morning he passed from time into eternity. He is in no more pain
no more worries no more sickness and sadness. He is now in the tender loving arms of his Heavenly Father.
