Pastor Darville Phillip Ferguson Age 91 Years of South Beach Drive, South Beach Estates
departed this earthly sojourn, at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Sunday, December 19, 2004.
Pastor Darville was born on Monday, September 15, 1913 at Colonel Hill Crooked Island,
Bahamas to parentage of Matheas and Arimina Ferguson.
Pastor Darville, moved from Colonel Hill to Moss Town, Crooked Island and wa adopted by
Mr. Alpheas and Mrs. Margaret Moss, after the death of his parents. He was educated at the
All-Age School at Colonel Hill, Crooked Island Bahamas.
After his schooling, his first employment was a seaman, serving his home folks,
sailing mainly back and forth from Nassau to Crooked Island, Inagua to Crooked Island and
Haiti to Crooked Island. In the 1940's, he went on the contract in the U.S.A., while there is
co-workers gave him the nick name "Papa D". And during this time,
brother Ferguson met the Lord in the year 1943.
He learned carpentry, from his adopted father and later became a professional
carpenter and builder. As a famous builder, he wa called upon to build buildings,
boats, caskets etc. During the 1930's, he met and fell in love with Shirley Ferguson
of Cabbage Hill, Crooked Island, Bahamas. They were joined in Holy Matrimony
in 1937 this union was blessed with five children, three of whom have pre-deceased him.
His wife pre-deceased him on Sunday, March 02, 1968. Later that year, he decided to take
another companion. He married Mrs. Blanche Moss. Brother Darville's number one concern,
was to work for the Lord. An example of this is during his years at Crooked Island,
among the many works, he literally build two Churches, under the Church of God of Prophecy.
In 1956 he Became a license Minister, he served in his Church as a Sunday School superintendent,
later was ordained am assistant Pastor. In 1972 he was ordained Pastor of the Church of God of
Prophecy at Cripple Hill, Crooked Island, Bahamas. In 1974, he was appointed District Overseer,
by the late Bishop Alvin Moss. Pastor Darville served on several committees at Crooked Island.
He was awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Crooked Island Association.
He Loved the Lord and his Church, as a Pastor, he refused to see himself just behind the
alter on the pulpit. As is a custom with most Pastors, their chair is always just behind the alter.
But Pastor Darville, would seat himself at the end of the pulpit, where he beat the drum every
Sunday until he became age-able.

Sixteen Grandchildren: Wesley, Glenford, Police Sergeant 1588 Derick, Lemuel Jr.,
Sean, Renay, Phillippa, Melissa, Carlton and Maryann Ferguson, Theodore,
Simon and Darison Wilson, Lee-Marvin and Keith Johnson and Delphil Hoffis;
Fourteen: Great Grandchildren;
Ten: Step Grandchildren;
Nephew: James Ferguson of Opalocka, Florida;
Two Nieces: Phillis and Patsy;
Two Daughters-in-law: Ludell and Francena Ferguson;
One Brother-in-law: Deacon Robert Ferguson of Opalocka, Florida;
Two Sisters-in-law: Ellen Johnson and Naomi Collie of Opalocka, Florida;
Many other loving family and friends.
