Orea Elizabeth Sweeting-Smith

June 12, 1949 — October 27, 2016

Nassau, New Providence

Orea Elizabeth Sweeting-Smith Age 67 Years of Domingo Heights,
completed her life of service at the Princess Margaret Hospital on
Thursday, October 27, 2016.

Orea was born on Sunday, June 12, 1949. The first daughter of Roston and Beaulah Sweeting
of Rose Dale Street, Rolle Avenue. She started her early education at Our Lady's Catholic School,
and then on to Aquinas College.

Orea met the love of her life Hubert W Smith Jr. at the Quintine Alley Church of God.
She later married Hubert on Sunday, December 21, 1969 at Lincoln Boulevard Church
of God. As a wife she loved her husband dearly, she affectionately called him "Junior':
She became his first Carpenter apprentice, learning the tools of the trade. Out of this trade
she helped to construct their dwelling home of which they reside.

While Hubert was employed at the Mednet Group of Companies, she further
became an integral part of his employment, also assisting with the ground keeping.
When Hubert lost his Sight, due to Diabetes she became his everything up until her
demise. This union produced two children, Hubert Whitney Smith III and
Oreinthia Smith-Ferguson. She loved her children dearly but with a strong arm of discipline.
She was an excellent mother, friend and true confident.

She was an excellent cook, who loved preparing scrumptious meals for her family.
She had an unwavering faith in God which she instilled in her children. She taught
her children by example in every situation. She always encouraged her children to
pursue their dreams and there was nothing they could not achieve.

Orea's Professional career spanned over 40 years in the Public Service.
During her career she was deployed to various Ministries including the
Bahamas Immigration Department, The Boys Industrial School, The
Department of Social Services, and most recently at the Early Childhood
Development Centre from which she retired.

Orea understood that her Christian life demanded that she be more than a
regular church attendee. Her priority was building up the Kingdom of God
here on earth. She worked tirelessly and diligently along with her husband
in all areas of ministry including the Youth Ministry at the Southland Church
of God for more than 10 years. Orea was also honored with her husband at the
National level for their contributions to the National work in the Church of God.
She truly exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman.

She continued her ministerial journey where she transitioned to Christian Life Church.
There she was actively involved in the Women's Ministry, Sunday school and Prayer Ministry.
Her passion was transparent as she was unashamedly seen worshipping God through Song and
Dance especially using the tambourine. Orea was actively involved in her community, where she
visited the sick and shut in. She consistently prayed, provided spiritual counselling and monetary
gifts to those in need.

Orea fought a good fight, she finished her course and she kept the faith. On Thursday, October 27,
2016 she went home to reap her reward and hear her Heavenly Father say, "Well done, my good
and faithful servant.
