Neville Henry "Shine" Gibson Age 58 Years of Red Sea Road, Redland Acres
Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas passed from earthly Labour,
to his eternal reward at the Princess Margret Hospital on Tuesday, May 08, 2007.
He was born on Tuesday, September 07, 1948 at Abraham's Bay Mayaguana, The Bahamas.
Being the six of eight children, five boys and three girls, he was the third son.
He was by far a strong addition to this family, and he was loved dearly by them.
Neville was one of the founding members of the Great Pentecostal Church of the Living God,
Acklins Street the Grove. He was recognized for his distinguished service as church musician in 1988.
He was very versatile when it came to music, with the ability to play any instrument in his path.
He was not selfish with his gift, whoever sought tutoring he would gladly teach.
His early education was as the Mayaguana All-age school. Later his family migrated to New Providence
in pursuit of economic empowerment. This re-location enabled him to further his Education at
Southern Junior and Senior High School in New Providence.
He worked not for rewards or awards; however, he was most appreciated for his accomplishments
of 23 years of service in 1999 By the Ministry of Education. He received a Certificate of Appreciation
from the Principal and Staff of C. |H. Reeves School 1998 – 1999 For Outstanding Service Rendered.
As the sun sets over the horizon, so did Neville's eyes set on Carol's. He was madly in love with her,
and knew she was destined for him. Being a God- fearing a virtuous woman, Carol was just what he
needed to make him whole. Therefore, being righteous and loving he took her hand in marriage.
God blessed this union with five beautiful children whom they loved dearly.
Even after his wife Carol Priscilla Hall Gibson, departed from him and his family on the eve of 2001,
he never fell out of love with her and remained strong for his children.
Neville also had a dream, and being the visionary that he was,
he realized through God's grace and hard work, he would accomplish his goals.
His passion and gift of craftsmanship had earned him a job at Cavalier Construction Company
as an Apprentice Mason. His gifted hands enabled him to construct cabinets, boats and buildings
of all shapes and sizes including his dream home for his family. Indeed one can say he mastered his field.
However, he decided to change venue to spend more time at home. He sought employment at
the Boys Industrial School in the early seventies. Here he labored for some seven years,
trying to instill good behavior and discipline in our delinquent boys.
His compassion for youth led him to Swan Bus Company, where he chauffeured children
via buses to and from school. Responding to yet another calling, Neville continued at the
Ministry of Education as a Security Officer in the year of 1976.
He served with distinction at the following institutions:
G. Glover Primary
H. Reeves Secondary
M. Bailey High
C. McPherson Junior
Ridgeland Primary
Ministry of Education Head Quarters
Columbus Primary.
Columbus Primary, being the last milestone, he worked until his demised.
While executing his service as a security officer, his life was threatened on numerous occasions.
Only the grace of God had protected him.
His routine was a very simple one, work, and home and at times
played his guitar in his upper chamber. His favorite hobby was fishing.
Who would have thought that this hobby that Neville so loved would be his last voyage at sea?
Even though he wasn't feeling during his fishing trip, God kept him throughout the night.
