Marilyn Onell Munroe Age 35 Years of #24 Sumner Street, Nassau Village
went to be at rest with the Lord, at Melech Hospice House 11150 North 52nd Street,
Temple Terrace, Florida on Friday, March 20, 2009.
Marilyn was born on Monday, November 05, 1973 in Nassau, New Providence, the Bahamas.
Marilyn's educational journey began at Quarry Mission Primary, and later,
the Oakes Field Primary School. After completing her tenure at the primary level,
she moved onto the H. O. Nash Junior High School and afterward, the C. C. Sweeting Senior High School.
Seeking a better quality of education for her, her family made a decision to transfer her to the
Bahamas Academy of S.D.A., where she completed her secondary education.
Being the industrious, motivated individual that she was, following graduation,
Marilyn found employment as a cashier/attendant at Subway's Cable Beach restaurant
for a number of years and, following this, the Alamanda Restaurant.
While in the restaurant field, Marilyn developed a taste for exquisite dishes,
and could often be found viewing her favorite chefs, reeling their culinary
magic on the Food Network. Some of these dishes would materialize on the Sunday dinner table,
with her family and friends having the task of being the taste testers. However, knowing that
she was no Emerald, and understanding the Biblical principle of work, Marilyn's quest for
knowledge and her zeal to improve oneself, prompted her to make a career change.
She entered the legal arena when she went to work as a clerk at the law office of Michael Kemp & Co.
This experience confirmed for her that this was her calling. The skills that she acquired enabled
her to later fill a position as a secretary at the law offices of Higgs & Johnson; after which she
progressed into her employ at Graham Thompson & Co., where she remained until her demise.
Marilyn's first love was for Jesus, her Savior, whom she had a personal relationship with.
She attended church regularly, and enjoyed the warm and friendly atmosphere she found at
The Church of Christ, Highbury Park, where she was a member. It was also here that she
established friendships that would for her, last a life time. Marilyn was a homely girl who
loved her bed with a passion. Her family would often jokingly tell her that her bed would
cry while she was at work and when she returned, it would wrap its arms around her and welcome her home.
During a trip to Crocked Island in 2005, the bed was replaced. This change came in the person
of Hugo Brown, who proved to be her true soul mate. Shortly after they met, she was diagnosed
with breast cancer. This prognosis would have frightened most young men off, but Hugo,
loved her in spite of the challenges, and stayed with her until her passing.
