Marie Joseph St. Louis Age 68 Years of #20 McCullough Corner,
Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas passed from life into eternity,
at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Tuesday, September 11, 2007.
She was born at Gonaives Haiti, on Saturday, June 10, 1939.
Marie the first of three children lived with her family, until the age of nineteen.
1958 she migrated to the Bahamas and took up residence in McCullough Corner,
because of her warm personality she was happily accepted into the community and
was accepted by the Cooper's as one of their own who later offered her a job as a maid/housekeeper.
After her tenure with the Coopers for whom she had worked many years,
she then sort employment in the hotel industry where she was employed in
the Housekeeping Department at the Royal Victoria Hotel and later The St. Francis hotels.
During this time she met the love of her life Mr. Sylvain Vincent St. Louis
and on Saturday, November 04, 1967 they were married.
Because of her caring nature, love and commitment for family
she left the hotels and with the full support of her husband she
become a fully committed housewife, who not only cared for
her own children but those of the McCullough Corner community
namely Mrs. Myrtis Bain's children. Because she was such a loving,
caring and giving person she became known to the entire community as "Marrie" or "Mum".
"Mum" as she was affectionately called was the best wife, mother, grandmother,
neighbor or friend a person could ever want. She would give her very last to her
children and grand children even if it meant doing without, for she was a
person who NEVER said no to the need of another.
"Mum" was highly respected in the community and because of her reputation
people were always drawn to her. Anyone who came in contact with her can
attest to the fact that she was truly a gem. Because of her excellent traits and
life living these same qualities can be found in her children today, for they all
are people of good standing throughout the Bahamas.
The only time "Mums" mood would change was when a person said
something (that she considered to be) bad about the Saxons Superstars,
for she was their BIGGEST fan. Win, loose or draw.
