Lorraine Agua "Dar" Brown-Charlton, Age 78 Years of Penny Bank Subdivision,
off Soldier Road West, passed away at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Friday, December 08, 2000.
She was born in the city of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on Friday, December 16, 1921.
She resided there, for the first five years of her life.
Lorraine relocated to Abraham's Bay, Mayaguana, Bahamas.
There she was nurtured and brought up by her aunt and uncle, Mama Tiny and Frederick Saunders.
She received her education at the Abraham's Bay All-Age School. She blossomed into a charming young lady.
She met and married the handsome, charming but hardworking, the Reginald Samuel Charlton.
This union was blessed with 17 children of whom 13 survived. Her world evolved around her God,
husband, children and family.
While in Mayaguana, she worshiped at Zion Baptist Church and was very active.
She was the Minister of Music, Choir Director, Music Teacher, Sunday School Director,
and Teacher. Later she moved to the Capital, where her first church home was with
Rev. Ferguson and the Free Community Church, she also graced the congregation
of the Robinson Morris Chapel. She was instrumental in establishing the
Cousin McPhee Cathedral, along with its late pastor Freeman McPhee.
