Leslie John "Les, Stitch" Marshall Age 63 Years of #22 Laird Street
was called from this life to eternity at the Princess Margaret Hospital on
Friday, February 07, 1997.
Les or Stitch, as he was fondly called was born in Nassau, New Providence,
the Bahamas on Sunday, September 03, 1933. He was the third child and second son.
He grew up in Grant's Town and attended St. Agnes Day School and
Western Junior School also known as Smith's Schools then located in
Hospital Lane North. He went on to attend Western Senior School where
he attained the status of "Head Boy" in 1949.
He was also the recipient of the Cambridge Junior Certificate,
he also passed the City and Guilds of London Institute Examination,
at the Bahamas Technical School which was then located in Oakes Field.
During the 1960's, while employed at John S. George he travelled to Jamaica
where he studied and learned how to repair Singer Sewing Machines and some
electrical appliances. He also learned refrigeration and was a tailor by trade,
which he learned under the tutelage of the late Mr. Buster Adderley.
He worked in several hotels engineering departments, namely the Nassau Beach,
Emerald Beach and Atlantis Hotels. His final place of employment was at the
Sandilands Hospital's engineering department.
He was a member of the Western Sporting Club, where he was the opening
batsman for their cricket team. He was also very active in many other sports,
including basketball, softball, track and field and table tennis, becoming the
table tennis champion for the Priory and YMCA teams. He was also a
member of Wesley Methodist Church, Baillou Hill Road and Chapel Street.

One Sister-in-law: Donna Bethel-Marshall;
Other loving family and friends including: Annie Brown, Dora C. Dean and Mr. and Mrs. James Nottage.
