Governor's Harbour

Leroy Devon Forbes Age 35 Years of Governor's Harbour Eleuthera and formerly of
#67 Jacaranda Street, Pinewood Gardens completed his time on earth on Thursday, March 15, 2018.

Leroy was born at Nassau, New Providence, the Bahamas on Monday, May 17, 1982.
"Devon" as he was affectionately called received water baptism in the Catholic Faith
which signified cleansing and purification and linked him to the grace and love of God.

Devon was a special and well-loved child. He was the first grandson of the late Brontis Adderley
and they both celebrated the same birth date. Devon spent most of the first two years of his life
with his late grandmother who cared for and nurtured him. She loved and mentored him always
pointing him in the right direction.

Devon was a quiet and studious child who spent most of his time reading and studying.
He received his early childhood education at the C.W. Sawyer Primary School and at
St. Augustine's College from which he graduated in 1999. His tertiary education commenced
in Ontario Canada at Cambridge International College of Canada. He later studied at the
University of Buckingham, Buckinghamshire England.

Having returned home Devon found employment at several establishments most of which
afforded him the opportunity to work with people. However, in 2009 Devon engaged a
position with The Bahamas Customs Department as a Customs Officer.

Devon was not perfect and his life was certainly not void of challenges. However, he was
a sweet, charming and courageous young man who had dreams and aspirations and
endeavored to realize them.

Unfortunately, during his tenure with Customs he experienced the tragic loss of his
only brother Renaldo. The memories of this event haunted Devon continuously often
making it difficult for him to cope. Attempts to help him were futile.

Devon subsequently moved to Eleuthera where he managed a family owned clothing store.
He enjoyed and embraced this new opportunity and looked forward to travelling and helping
persons transform themselves fashionably.

During the evening of Thursday the 1st of March 2018 the struggle became real for Devon and
the challenges of life consumed him. He sustained injuries to his body.  Following his care in
Eleuthera and Nassau, he was airlifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Simon Bolivar
Hospital in Bogota, Columbia.

With his mother by his side he remained conscious and alert and confirmed his belief in and
relationship with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. His mother prayed and witnessed with
him and encouraged him to ensure that his salvation was election sure.

The Doctors spared no efforts to restore him to good health. Their plans with respect to his
future medical care were very positive and they believed that Devon was going to be ok.

However, God had another plan for Devon. The storms and trials of his life as he knew it had
come to an end and God called him home to glory at 6:36 p.m. on Thursday the 15th day of
March, 2018. Devon had fought the good fight, had finished his course and had kept the faith.

His absence from this earth will no doubt leave a void in the hearts of his parents, family, friends
and loved ones; however, we will cherish the memories of his life forever.
