Lankwood William Lockhart Age 80 Years of Ridgeland Park, West
passed from this life, at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Saturday, January 20, 2001.
Born at Duncan Town, Ragged Island, Bahamas on Tuesday, August 31, 1920.
He was the fifth of seven siblings.
Lankwood was educated at the Ragged Island All-Age School.
Leaving at age fourteen years, to go to sea trading sugar, salt, cows,
corn, peas and bananas between Cuba, Haiti and the Bahamas on the sailboat Casilda.
In 1943, he began to work on the Edna as an apprentice engineer and later on the Pricilla.
Because of his keen interest in engineering, his desire to learn and do more
he joined the Bahamas Electricity Corporation in 1947. He moved up the ranks in his field
and was sent to England, in 1969 on a training seminar. Upon his return, many apprentices
were trained under him. He worked at every B.E.C. Station in New Providence, retiring in 1980,
with a most outstanding record after giving over thirty years of faithful and dedicated service.
Lankwood became a member of Christ the King Anglican Church,
Roland Street Ridgeland Park, West and was confirmed by
Bishop Michael Eldon on Thursday, February 12, 1976.
He was also a member of the Church's A.C.M. group.

Eleven Nephews: Leonard, Ernie, Kurth, Wade, Eugene, Gregory, Emery,
Eugene, Keith, Martin and Daryl;
Seventeen Nieces: Delores, Mena Sonia, Camille, Paula, Karen, Deanne,
Shelley, Mazie, Marcia, Ismae, Fredrica, Elma, Pamela, Melvern, Gwendolyn and Cheryl;
Other loving family and friends including: Birdie, Enid, Halton, Rodney, Va'shtie,
Addrey, Hermon, George, Percy, Carlton, David and Daniel.
