Joseph Edward Rolle

January 16, 1943 — June 3, 2026

Joseph Edward Rolle Age 83 Years of Pinewood Gardens and formerly of Old Bight Cat Island, baked his final loaves at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Wednesday, June 03, 2026.

He was born at Old Bight Cat Island, The Bahamas on Saturday, January 16, 1943. From humble beginnings, his life was marked by hard work, discipline, honesty and unshakable love for his family.

Joe received his early education at the Old Bight All Aged School. Even as a young boy, he was known to be sharp, dependable, and have diligent traits that would follow him throughout his life. Determined to build a better future, he later travelled to the United States on contract work, where he labored faithfully for years. Though he worked hard abroad, his heart never left the Bahamas and he eventually returned home, settling in Nassau. In Nassau, Joe enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as riding his motorcycle, spending time with friends as he was the life of the party and being surrounded by family. It was there that he met the beautiful Vanda Fox, who would become his life partner. Together, they built a loving home and raised four children; Garnell, Naomi, Renardo and he lovingly adopted Kevin as his own.

A devoted father, Joe, instilled in his children the values that defined his life, such as hard work, honesty, discipline, and belief that with effort and integrity, they could achieve anything. He was a steadfast provider, always ensuring his family had what they needed, not only in material things but in guidance, support and love.

Joe spent most of his career working at Purity Bakery, where he took great pride in his work, making bread and rolls for the community. He was known there, as at home for his reliability and his great strength. Even when illness came and he eventually lost his sight, Joe’s spirit remained unbroken. Though he could not see his grandchildren and great grandchildren with his physical eyes, he saw them with his heart.

He developed deep, meaningful relationships with them, spending quality time, sharing stories and gently but firmly teaching them right from wrong. He was instrumental in passing on the values of respect, honesty, and perseverance to the generations that followed him.

Joe loved God, and his faith anchored him through every season of life. His family was everything to him, and he lived in a way that made sure they always knew it. His legacy is one of devotion to his faith, to his work, and most of all, to his family.

Though he will be deeply missed, the life of Joseph Edward Rolle will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a life well lived, honorable disciplined and full of love. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy endure through the lives he shaped and family he cherished.
