John Cornelius Kemelio Kofi Sosu, affectionately called Corney,
was born on Tuesday, December 12, 1950. at Vodza near Keta
in the Volta Region of Ghana. He was the second child of
Gabriel Kpevi Sosu of blessed memory and the first child of Gladys Eyi Adika-Sosu.

John Cornelius Kemelio Kofi Sosu began his basic school education at
Vodza Roman Catholic School and then continued at Keta Roman Catholic Boys School
where he obtained his Middle School Leaving Certificate (Standard 7) and
sat the Common Entrance Examination for an admission to a Secondary School Education.

In September 1964 he successfully gained an admission to Bishop Herman College in Kpando.
He sat for his General Certificate Examinations: GCE O' Level in June 1969 and passed with
flying colours. Afterwards, Corney gained an admission into Winneba Post-Secondary School
at Winneba to be trained as a teacher.

During his teaching assignment at Winneba Anglican School, Winneba he prepared privately
and sat for his Advance Level General Certificate Examinations (A' Level).

ln the pursuit of higher knowledge, he gained admission to the University of Cape Coast UCC
where he studied and obtained his BEd degree. After completing his studies at UCC he was
posted to Labone Secondary School, Accra Ghana where he taught for a year.

He, however, left for a greener pasture to Libya for a teaching appointment, where he taught
for several years before returning home to Ghana.

While at home he applied and got another teaching appointment contract in 1988 at Aquinas College,
Nassau Bahamas and he embarked this journey with his wife Mrs. Florence Yaovi-Sosu.

After this contract he got another one for 3 years at Mt Carmel Secondary School.
On completion of this teaching appointment contract, he had another one at
Jordan Prince William High School for 3 years.

He was going to school for his teaching assignment that he met his untimely death on Monday, 09 May 2022.

Just like the Biblical doubting Thomas, we are still in doubt of the death of Corney who,
few days to his demise was so assuring of his reunion with the family back home in Ghana
little did we know that he was rather pointing of a celestial union with His maker

Corney as we fondly refer to him was so gentle, soft spoken with few words.
He was very humorous and accommodating. He had so much concern for the wellbeing
of the family back home and in the diaspora. He was the intermediary between families
in the diaspora and those at home. No wonder he was very instrumental in linking
family members in the diaspora in the construction of fence wall around the Family Cemetery.

He was a great inspiration to both young and old. One thing he most often does anytime he
visits home was to attend the monthly family meeting by organizing drinks to attendees.

We will only take inspiration and consolation from the Bible that he has
heeded to the clarion call of his Maker and who are we to question his
MAKER of taking him from us. We again buy into the words of C.C. Scorts

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go
Some stay for a while and live footprints on our hearts
And we are never, ever the same"

Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on,
and cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone.
Those we love can never be more than a thought apart,
far as long as there is memory, they'll live on in the heart.
