James Edmund Moss Age 82 Years of #7 Petticoat Lane,
off West Hill Street departed this life at the Princess Margaret Hospital
on Thursday, October 02, 1997.
James was born at Marsh Harbour Abaco, Bahamas on Wednesday, March 24, 1915.
At the age of six years of age, Edmund "his preferred name" along with his mother and
two brothers Bertram and Eardley, moved to Miami Florida.
Due to his mother's ill health and subsequent death, Edmund and his siblings
returned home to Abaco. Loving relatives from Nassau and Abaco readily
became their guardians. Edmund was reared by aunt Julia Johnson "nee Archer" in Nassau,
Bertram by uncle Robert "Bobby" Archer and Eardley by uncle Edwin Archer
and aunt Julia "Sis" Archer in Abaco.
Upon completion of his education at Eastern Senior All Age School, Edmund
went to work with J. D. Albury at Albury's Food Supplies. He remained in their
employ for 30 years. He then found employment on Cay Sal, Bahamas near Cuba
where he worked for approximately four years. Edmund returned to Nassau and
joined the staff of the Parthenon Hotel as a security guard. After two short years,
Edmund retired after being shot.
Edmund met the lovely Vanvala Demeritte and on Saturday, March 04, 1944
they were married at Bethel Mission Church. The ceremony was performed by
the late Rev. Dr. H. W. Brown. From this union came two children,
Blanche Elizabeth and Cassandra Judith.
James is preceded in death by his:

Donald "Donnie", Andy, Earl, Dr. Roop, Michael, Charles, Adli, Eardley Jr.,
Ambry Sr., Edwin and Trevor Moss, Rosemary Williams, Greta Bain,
Monique Hepburn, Jasmine Strachan, Sybil Butler, Sharon Fernander,
Delores Styles, Donald and Elwood Shepherd, Edwin, Barbara and Augusta,
Kirkwood, Gladstone and Hazel Demeritte;
Two Brothers-in-law: Gus Major and Roland Demeritte;
Five Sisters-in-law: Amanda and Ethel Demeritte, Flora Pratt,
Florence Keenan of New York and Eunice Moss;
Other loving family and friends including: Alma Nichols, Roosevelt,
Oscar and Leroy Archer, Louise Wallace-Thompson, Sidney Wallace,
Ethel North-Smith, Margaret McDonald, Mary Sweetnam, Teddy North,
Constance Peterson, Paula Williams and their families, the Archer, Hudson,
