Iva Alvoina Strachan-Bain Age 93 years of #98 Ameryllis Avenue, Garden Hills No.1 
completed her final day of service at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Tuesday, June 20, 2017.


Iva was born at Mangrove Cay, Andros the Bahamas on Tuesday, January 01, 1924.
At an early age she attended An All-Age School in Mangrove Cay, Andros. Iva was a
very intelligent and loving person. At the tender age of thirteen.


She moved to Nassau to live with her eldest sister Elizabeth Molly, and to seek employment.
After searching for a few months she was hiring at La-Mode dress Store on Madera Street
while working there she had her first child named John Taylor Sr. (deceased).


They after she met the Love of her life William Archibald Bain they got married and added
a set of twins to the family they named them Glenda and Brenda Bain. In the early 60's Iva
was hired at Batelco were she worked until she retired. Iva later joined Zion South Beach
Baptist Church she was a very loved and active member. She was a humanitarian at heart,
a giant of a person with a space in her heart for everyone. She was a very sexy lady who
loves to dress up and had clothes for every occasion. She gave herself sacrificially to her
jobs, family and especially her love ones.


Iva has been a strong woman all her life but after falling and breaking her pelvis in 2015 she was bed ridden.

On Monday, June 19, 2017 she was rushed to the hospital for shortness of breath and on Tuesday,
June 20, 2017 with her daughter Glenda at her bedside she took her last breath and went home to
be with her heavenly father to eternity.

Bridgette White-Young, Akera Simms, Shatika Deveaux and Candice Williams;

Twelve Great Grandsons: Rashik and Joshua Bethel, Kenrick Jr. and  Doneco Woodside Jr.,
Shamar Nixon, Rekeem and Janard Fisher, Nathan Maycock, Christopher Turnquest, Rodney Taylor,
Raymond and Tevin;

Nine Great Granddaughters: Angel Gray, Ravon Armbrister, Racha'e, Onesh'a and Tityanna Bethel,
Sha-naé Bethel-Maycock, La-Shyé and Tori Johnson and Jalexia Bullard;

Thirteen Nephews: Livingstone, Nathaniel, Roderick, Garlington, Sylvanio, Harold, Leroy, Alexanda,
Thomas, James Smith Jr. of New York, Franklyn, Albert and Roscoe;

Fourteen Nieces: Geraldine, Veronica, Ivamae, Lucy, Mavis, Gwendolyn, Berthamae, Mayruth, Francis,
Maryann, Paulette, Leola, Margarite and Rev. Angie Burrows;

Godchildren: Bertha McPhee and Vanessa Bonamy;
