Henry William Cleare Jr. Age 47 Years of Nassau Village and formerly of South Beach
passed from this life into eternity, at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Sunday, July 15, 2007.
He was born at Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas on Thursday, October 08, 1959.
"Junior" as he was called by all who knew him, was the fifth of nine children
born to Henry and Shirley. He received his early education at A. F. Adderely High School
and upon leaving school immediately went to work with his father, his older brother Robert
and later on joined by Trevor in the heavy equipment business.
As a matter of coincidence, 25 years ago on this very date, Wednesday, July 28, 1982.
Junior took the petite and very shy Barbara Baptiste to be his bride.
They were quite busy too because even though they had a color TV and VCR,
with the exception of Anika (their oldest daughter), almost every year that followed
Junior and Barbara had a child, namely Monica, Enrique, Shan, Henry III and Lavanda.
"Junior" was a quick learner and along with his brothers, spent the majority of his life at
his father's side helping to build and carry on the family legacy. Junior had a reputation
for being one of the most highly skilled heavy equipment operators in the business and
like his dad, there was barely a machine in the industry Junior could not operate.
Like most of us, Junior had his own unique habits that made him who he was and while
there are many words that come to mind when we think of him, what stands out the most
was that he was a "SURVIVOR", a WARRIOR", and never one to give up under difficult circumstances.
Instead, he looked for ways and tried to make the most out of his situation no matter how unfavorable the odds.
Junior lived a simple life, his needs were simple and he enjoyed the simple things,
like his mom's cooking, a chunk of "miracle macaroni" from his sister's kitchen,
the sight of his nephews and nieces, an ice-cold beer after a hard day's work,
or just hanging out and "shooting the breeze" with his friends where he talked
just about everything and anything, these were his pleasures.
Like all of us here today, Junior was not perfect for there is no such thing.
He realized this and many years ago in an effort to become closer to the Lord Our Savior,
he joined the Voice of Deliverance Ministry. So great was his devotion and commitment
to serve the Father that soon thereafter he received his Evangelist licence which enabled
him to reach out and touch others even more and he was so proud of this accomplishment.
His commitment to God was steadfast and unwavering, but being a Christian as many of
us here can appreciate is not an easy task and Junior had his challenges.
Those close to him (both friends and relatives) would recall the many occasions
he would sit and talk for hours about wanting to do the right thing in serving his Lord,
about how much he loved and missed his family, about being a better husband and father.
Like many of us, Junior wanted to do all of the right things not just for himself, but also for
those who were such an important part of his life and we truly and sincerely believe that
deep down inside, his Lord understood his son's aching heart.
Junior is not with us today as we would wish him to be, but he will always be with us in heart,
in mind, in spirit, in every heavy duty dump truck that passes, in every piece of heavy equipment
machinery our eyes lay upon, in every red Chevy S-10 we see on the road, his memory will bear heavily on us.
