Helena Theresa Dean

April 5, 1961 — June 15, 2012

Nassau

Helena Theresa Dean Age 51 years of Caribbean Gardens, off Gladstone Road,
completed her earthly walk of this life at #11 Sandy Lane, off Pitt Street Mason
Addition on Friday, June 15, 2012.

Helena was born at Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas on Wednesday, April 05, 1961.
She was dedicated to the Lord at Our Ladies Catholic Church. Later on in life Helena who
would be fondly known as Leanie, was destined to live a happy, adventurous life that would
positively touch many lives.

At the tender age of five, Helena attended T. A. Thompson primary school. Thereafter she
attended S. C. McPherson and completed her secondary schooling at Governors Harbor High.
There, she excelled in every facet of school life, both scholastic and extracurricular activities.
After graduating, she adopted her nephew Valentino Williams, a year later; she gave birth to
her first child Jamiko Dean. Nonetheless, Leanie was determined to continue her education.
She later relocated to the United States to further her studies abroad at the Lindsey Hopkins
Technical Education Center in Miami, Florida.

Upon completion of her studies at Lindsey Hopkins Technical Centre, Leanie secured
employment at Earls Super market in Miami, Florida. There she was employed as a cashier
and worked her way up to head cashier. Many years later she returned to the Bahamas, where
she gave birth to her second child, Glenkiah Dean. Leanie switched her career path and was later
employed as a cook at The Boys Industrial School for several years. Again she switched career
paths for economic reasons and became a sales associate, at Palmdale Furniture where she
excelled to top sales associate before becoming ill. For medical reasons Helena retired early
and became a stay at home mother and grandmother.

Helena had an infectious personality. Wherever she went she was the life of the party.
She was always smiling or looking to put a smile on the faces of anyone she came in
contact with. She loved her children and always wanted the best for them. She was
also a second mother to many.  She was "mother goose". Her house was a home of
refuge and not just for her children but for anyone who was in need. Helena loved
her family, cooking, dancing, socializing, reading and traveling.

Shortly after the passing of her mother, Jannie Dean, she found refuge in the Church.
There she gave her life to Christ and became an active member of New Testament Baptist
Church. She was determined to win souls for the Lord. She loved witnessing and telling
people about the Lord Jesus Christ her Savior. There were times she struggled with her faith,
but she knew the virtue of prayer and loved reading her Bible. Leanie would always encourage
people to pray and ask them to keep her in prayer.
