Hayward Laclane "Pop" Dean Age 82 Years of Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera
ended this earthly walk, on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at the Rand Memorial Hospital.
He was the first offspring, born to the late George and Ramona Dean-nee Bethel,
on Friday, December 19, 1919. He was educated at the then, Hatchet Bay All-age School.
There he served as monitor {teacher}.
Pop worked in Nassau with Standard and Tin Smith Plumbing, in Freeport with the
Grand Bahama Cement Company, in Hatchet Bay with the Harrisville Company and
the Ministry or Works. He also ran his own Barber Shop for awhile.
Pop attracted and married the beautiful Ruth Louise Kemp, who preceded him in death in 1988.
This union was blessed with ten children, two of which predeceased them.
Pop worshiped at St. Stephen's Baptist church, in Hatchet Bay.
He was also a founding member of the Hatchet Bay Brass Band, where he played the trumpet.
