Gwendolyn Virginia Fox-Bonaby

August 27, 1934 — April 17, 2026

Gwendolyn Virginia Fox-Major Age 91 Years of Walnut Street, Pinewood Gardens and formerly of Strachan’s Boulevard, exchange her time on earth for eternity on Friday, April 17, 2026.

She was born at Waterford Eleuthera, The Bahamas on Monday, August 27, 1934 to the proud parents Johnny and Loretta Brown-Fox, who welcomed this radiant baby girl into this world and named her Gwendolyn Virginia.

Gwen, as she was affectionately called, attended school at an early age and later graduated from the Eastern Senior High School in Nassau. Gwen was a nanny and caregiver for the Johnson and Pritchard families in her earlier years; she took pride in managing a convenience store on Kemp Road hill for years. Gwen retired after many years of hard labor in the hospitality industry. She was very talented and often used her gifted hands to create things, and usually found solace in completing puzzles, knitting, sewing, baking, and cooking scrumptious meals.

At the age of eighteen she met Wilfred Anthony Bonaby, the man of her dreams. They later married, and that union produced nine children whom they cherished and adored. Gwen loved her family, her God, her Pastor and his beautiful wife, and her church family.

On Friday, December 5th, 2025, Gwen had a fall and was admitted to The Princess Margaret Hospital where she remained for several weeks. Her health began to decline, but she remained steadfast, unmovable, and was always abounding in the grace of her Lord!

Even on her sick bed she was praying and ministering to her caregivers, family and friends. The highlights of her last days were when she was able to sing songs with her caregivers from the Baptist Hymnal because she still knew the words to everyone. Two days before her demise the last words spoken to her daughter repeatedly were “I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
