Gunzallas Edmondson "Gunny" Butler Age 54 Years of #8 Hillside Street,
Hillside Estates off Mackey Street completed his final ride of life on Friday, October 02, 2015.
He was born at Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas on Friday, December 09, 1960.
He received his early Education at Adventist Preschool, Stephen Dillet, D.W Davis Junior High
then onto C. C. Sweeting Senior School; it was there that his Ministry in stewardship began.
He would get outstanding comments from every teacher, commenting on his humble spirit
and his willingness to help as a result he brought home report cards with all A's not because
of his scholastic attempt but because of his charm. He had an infectious spirit; and everyone
he came into contact with feel in love with his pure heart.
Gunny throughout his life took on odd jobs but worked mainly as a parking boy
and shelf boy at Super Value Cable Beach there he made lifelong relationships
with prominent residents in the Cable Beach community, they would drop him
home from time to time and every Christmas he received gifts from many of them.
For many years he also assisted his long-time friend Joe with deliveries to Toms and Island Wholesale.
Gunny was a devoted and committed to service and gave 110 percent to anything he was involved with.
He was an avid member of the Boys Brigade Band, where he played the symbols with such grace and honor.
He never played sports but he was a sports enthusiast, he attended every major sporting event that took
place on Windsor Park and would follow his team wherever they played. For the greater part of his life he
had a trusty companion, his bicycle that he used to commute from place to place. His bicycle and the
ringing of his bell became synonymous with him. He attended every major event whether Political Rallies,
Junkanoo, or Sporting Events he was there and he made sure you saw him. The T.V cameras never missed
him and the next day after the event you would see Gunny on the News or somewhere in the News Papers.
He lived a structured and routine life and didn't deviate from it. Gunny was a humble friendly, caring and
lovable individual; and was always prepared to help.
Matthew 5:8 "blessed are those whose hearts are pure for they will see God." Some three (3) years ago
Gunny's life took on a different meaning he abandoned his old habits and saw things in a different
prospective. It was at a Crusade that was being held on Windsor Park that he met his new family,
the New Destiny Baptist Church Family. He answered the call and accepted the Lord as his personal savior.
He attended the New Destiny Baptist Church every Sunday thereafter and answered every alter call.
Gunny had a pure heart.
Gunny was very close to his family, he was very special to is mother, He love honored and
held his mother in high esteem, he depended on her as she did him, he would never return
home without bringing something for her, they shared a special bond, if he wasn't home when
dark fall she wouldn't sleep. He loved his sisters and brothers and had pet names for all of them.
He would go to fairs win trinkets and he made sure all his nieces and nephews got something.
He had a very special sister that he would call if a fly landed on him, that's Sherry. Next to his mother,
Sherry was his all and all.
It was the 2nd Morning in October that Gunzallas took his last ride. He left his earthly dwelling
he called home to ride to the old homestead Butlers Alley to see his long time friends and to sell
some tickets for his church event. Persons in the area heard him complaining of chest pains,
and asked him if he wanted to go to the Hospital. He said NO HE WILL MAKE IT HOME.
He left Butlers Alley on his Bicycle enroute to his residence Hillside Estates but before he could
get there God called him to his new home, a Heavenly Home in the loving arms of Peace, love and Serenity.
Take your rest dear Gunny, we love you, but God loves you best.
