Genieve Yvonne Dorsett-Lousissaint

April 27, 1951 — October 23, 2018

Nassau

Genieve Yvonne Dorsett-Louissaint Age 67 Years of #81 Rupert Dean Lane, completed
her earthly walk of this life at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.

She was born at Nassau, New Providence, the Bahamas on Friday, April 27, 1951. She became
the fourth child of nine children in their blessed union. Affectionately called "Aunt Gen" she
grew to become a very loving, giving, caring, honest and resourceful gem to her family and to
all who knew her. Both of her parents were hard working entrepreneurs in Tourism. The surrey
and straw work industries were both sustained and strengthened by their commitment, dedication
and sacrifices. No doubt as to why "Aunt Gen" eventually followed both their paths.

Her education and skills began at St. Barnabas Kindergarten, Knights of King George Primary School,
The Western Junior and Senior Schools. She furthered her education at the Bahamas Technical College
where she studied cosmetology.

Aunt Gen eventually realized she wanted to use her creativity in a different way, after her tutelage she
joined her mother's side in the Straw Market. Together they managed one half of the family's business,
weaving and creating and providing.

During her time at the Straw Market she met and fell for the love of her life, James Lucien Louissaint.
Gen and James were married at All Saints Anglican Church in April 1981. This union blessed them with
two sons Alec and Devard and a daughter Annette (deceased).

Having a love and passion for horses from a tender age she learnt every aspect of their caretaking.
Gen could groom, train and harness up a horse and carriage like any man. She knew how to nurse
them back to health, even delivering calves, sometimes wearing her veterinarian hat all throughout the night.

She continued the entrepreneurial spirit of her father and held on to that legacy by maintaining the family's
fleet of four carriages and numerous horses in the surrey business.

An ambitious entrepreneur, the Bain Town Committee honored her dynamic skills, mentorship and
empowerment to young people in the Community. Not to mention, being a homemaker and an avid
decorator her home was a beautiful haven for many.

"Aunt Gen, Mamma J, Mother" too many was an avid reader of the Bible, she carried out her study of
the bible daily with two special ladies. Scriptures she repeated by memory were found in Isaiah 41:10.

Besides taking care of her own children she took delight in rearing her sisters, Grand nieces and
Grand nephews. In the neighborhood there were numerous kids she assisted the best way she could.
She lovingly provided for the neighborhood children by way of school supplies, uniforms as well as
monetary efforts.  She will be greatly missed.

So much fire, hard work and passion could not be contained in an earthly body for long. Her body
could not keep up with the dynamic vigorous cheerful soul it inhabited. On Tuesday October 23 2018
at 8.42am after living a full and accomplished life she ever so slowly bowed to the rigors and onset of
infirmity. Her life book was closed on one well spent as she passed into eternity. She lived, she laughed,
she loved and she left.  May her soul Rest in Peace.
