Gary Kenneth Kemp

May 21, 1944 — April 21, 2007

Nassau

Gary Kenneth Kemp Age 62 Years of Adderley's Terrace, off Wulff Road
went home to be with the Lord, at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Saturday, April 21, 2007.

He was born in Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas on Sunday, May 21, 1944.
He received his early education and Leaving Certificate from the Eastern Senior School.

In his early teens, Gary was such a likeable person, that he was favored and
later adopted by his neighbours, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Hall who encouraged
his involvement in the church. It was in the Glad Tidings Tabernacle Church
that he developed a love for God and thus became a very dedicated worshipper.
He was not ashamed of his faith or his relationship with God. He was a devoted
member of the Anglican Church Men (ACM) at St. Margaret's Anglican Church.
Although a very faithful Anglican, Gary periodically worshipped at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church,
as he was proud of his membership and affiliation with this parish.

Gary was a seaman. He developed his passion for the ocean via the nurturing
and instruction of his Abaconian father – a descendant of boat builders,
fishermen and sea captains. He was an excellent fisherman who was charitable,
and was often noticed sharing his catch with family and friends. While he loved the sea,
he was equally fascinated about working with heavy machinery. Later, Gary landed his first job
in Nassau as a crane operator, with Jerry Lorandos the first barge operator in the Bahamas.
He was an expert in handling other heavy equipment like tractors, and backhoes, etc.
As modern as heavy equipments seemed at the time, Gary's jobs were often strenuous,
as the heavy trucks he worked with or drove, had to be loaded with sand by hand shoveling.

Amongst Gary's many enjoyable and diverse professions, he was also a great cook who could
rival any seasoned chef. His cooking was superb and was always prepared with seasoning of
love and perfection. He was known as the best bread maker in all of Nassau, specifically,
amongst his Shirley Street family and friends. Everyone looked forward to enjoying some
of his wonderful and delicious homemade bread.

Gary was a serious competitor who strived for excellence, as he wanted to be "the best"
in whatever he participated in, even in his attempts to be "the best father."
He was a sincere person who remained constant in his demeanor towards people and family.
He was always approachable and kindhearted. His love for his family was evident, as he truly
loved his wife and children. Gary provided for then all, and was a great and admirable father, a
nd loving and devoted husband.
