Psalm 90:12; "So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom."

Memento mori (Remember you will die.) Day one, Friday, January 05, 1934
Garnet, the fourth son and tenth child of Jacob and Lillian Morris was born,
and His days were numbered. At one point in his life, he became extremely ill,
so much so that his family had already obtained his burial clothes and were prepared to bury him, but.

His days were numbered:
Garnet was sick for eight years and within that timeframe, his late brother Shadrach,
afforded him medical attention from many physicians abroad. Throughout his illness,
he said to his immediate family that he was going to be the very one to bury each of them
and he did except for Rose, his baby sister, however.

His days were numbered:
Garnet did not have any children; however, his nephews and nieces occupied that void.
Rose lived in Andros, and every time she became pregnant and went to Nassau to purchase
her baby supplies, Garnet said to her that every time he saw her, she was pregnant.
She told him that she was having all those children for both of them, because His days were numbered.
Garnet was always a hard worker. He worked in the United States during the contract time,
for several years, he also worked at a hotel in Great Harbour Cay for a period.
His most favorite job was transporting Sharon, Andrew and Monique to and from school.
Years later, understanding was gained as to why those three were so quiet, Garnet talked
nonstop both ways and they were not allowed much input. That job prepared him for
his career as a taxi driver, which he began in 1982 until 2016.

His days were numbered:
Prior to driving taxi, he managed his brother Shadrach' store and he was the owner of two racehorses.
Garnet was truly a character. At one time, to avoid conflict of interest, and after some duplicitous
arrangements to ensure the winning outcome of his horses, he convinced Shadrach to make
the bet on them. Of course, Shadrach won the money and he refused to give it to Garnet,
who in turn spoke harshly to him using words that have no assigned meanings. Shadrach,
being a passive person, afterward, gave Garnet some of the money. Garnet often said,
"thief from thief and God smiles," remember.

His days were numbered:
Shadrach was the owner of several apartments and he allowed Garnet to live rent free
and charged his tenants. There were some occasions whereby the tenants tried to swindle
out of paying rent and presented some sob story to the passive ones, (Shadrach and Kenneth).
When Garnet heard about it, he went to the tenants with vocabulary words that one would not
find in Webster, Oxford or any other dictionary and when he was through with his unfiltered
talk with them, the money was immediately produced. Kenneth, Rickey and Julian (AB) worked
with him in the store and sometimes Rose. With his characteristic ways, Garnet tried to evade
the insurance agent. He told the boys and Rose, that whenever the agent called, tell him that
he was not there. Rose told him point blank that she never practices lying and she certainly
was not going to do it, she said that if he was home when the call came in, she was calling him
to the telephone, therefore he told the boys not to allow her to answer the telephone. Julian,
one day, wanting to gain Garnet' approval and admiration, answered the telephone and informed
him that the agent wanted to speak with him. Garnet told him to tell the agent that he was not home.
He eagerly ran back to the telephone and said, "he says he isn't here." Garnet had no other choice but
to accept the call. After Garnet hung the phone up, Julian numbered days were almost over because
Garnet fussed him out with the nondictionary words and tore up his backside with a tamarind stick, be aware.

His days were numbered:
Garnet told some "white" lies but he did not entertain stealing, he always checked the boys'
pockets for stolen items before he allowed them to go home. The boys however, outsmarted
him by hiding their loot outside of the store before quitting time. Zipporah went by the store
after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first time that she went there, being hungry,
she helped herself to a few snacks. Garnet saw when she placed the items inside of her bag and
he took them from her and told her because she didn't ask but tried to steal them, she will not
have them, and he sent her on her way. Zipporah said that he only made her into a better thief
because afterwards she always checked his whereabouts before removing things. Garnet groomed
four professional thieves, by the time.

His days were numbered:
Garnet met Barbara Archer, the love of his life, while working at the store he worked at just
opposite BEC on Blue Hill Road. As Barbara passed his place of work on her way home from
her job at Jiffy Cleaners also on Blue Hill Road, Garnet would give her the look everyday he
saw her to let her know he was interested in her. The word of God declares that it is better to
marry than to burn. Garnet was a generous man that took excellent care of his family surely.

They began to talk and date and it was not long after that he decided he wanted her to be with
him and so he invited her to stay and live with him. This however did not sit well with their
conscience because his mother and her mother stood against their living together outside of
marriage. He then asked her to be his wife; and on August 11, 1983, Garnet made Barbara his
wife, a union that has lasted for almost 40 years.

His days were numbered:
Garnet retired from taxi driving in 2016 and he went to live with Kenneth in 2017.
His mind was still intact, but his body was not as strong, therefore, Rose, Kenneth, Donald,
Rickey and Adell became his caregivers for the remainder of his earthly sojourn.
On Tuesday October 19, Garnett was declared to be legally blind by the doctor.
Due to his new normal, Garnet began experiencing some challenges and was unable to move
around freely on his own anymore. He fell out of the bed one day and from that day onward,
his spirit also fell. He told Donald to tell Rose to please return home from abroad to take care of him.
She complied and returned home on January 24th to be with her brother because she knew that.

His days were numbered:
Garnet celebrated his 88th birthday on January 5th and on January 30th, as Rickey and Donald
were giving him a bath, he peacefully took his final breath and transitioned from this world to the next,
all because for the entire 88 years of his existence, he knew that his numbered days would come to an end.
