Franklyn Bruce Knowles "Meggon" Mather Age 57 Years of West Street, South 
completed his last workout and made his last cowbell, at the
Princess Margaret Hospital on Sunday, April 13, 1997.


Born Friday, February 23, 1940 at Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera, Bahamas to the
late William Mather and Emily Newbold. He received his education at
Baillou Hill Primary, known as Naomi Blatch Primary, and Western Senior Schools.


Meggon, was employed with the then Public Works Department,
now the Ministry of Works. Later he worked with his uncle,
Mr. Bruce Newbold who taught him the art of sheet metal,
at Standard Plumbing Company. In 1965 he joined his uncle Bruce,
at his own Sheet Metal Company, Bahamas Sheet Metal Company located
on West and Laird Streets. He also moon lighted as a bouncer at the
World Famous Banana Boat Night Club in Oakes Field and in Freeport,
Grand Bahama, with United FMI.


Upon his return to Nassau, he became employed with Island Mechanical,
Smith's Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. After which, he became self employed
as a Tinsmith. Meggon was active in sports, such as Rugby, Football and Weightlifting.
He was a member of the Weightlifters Association of the Bahamas.


Meggon, was a prominent member of the Junkanoo Committee, he rushed
for many years with Shell East Bay Junkanoo Group. Being a Tinsmith,
he also produced many Cowbells.


The Radiance of this "Amethyst of A Gem" will always glow in the hearts of his:
Six Children: Michael, William, Anthony and Frankiemae Mather,
Lucy Johnson and Debbie Simmons;

Seven Grand Children: Anwar, Shenik, Sheika, Shawna, Anthranique,
Krischa and Zenovia;

Sister: Ruth Dixon;
Three Brothers: Franklyn II, Prince and Kingsley Mather;
Four Uncles: Bruce Roy Newbold Sr., Joseph and Alonso Miller and William Curry;
Three Aunts: Bertha Newbold, Dolly Mather-Curry and Sarah Barry;
Brother-in-law: Whitney Dixon; 
Cousins: Theodore Miller, Pamela Arrindell of Memphis, Tennessee,
Royann Swain of Marsh Harbour, Abaco, Cheryl Braynon of Miami, Florida,
Bruce Newbold Jr., Helen McNeil, Brenda Coakley, Edwin Johnson,
Celestine McKinney and the Huyler Family;

Other loving family and friends.
