Evelina Christine Fwerguson-Whymns

November 3, 1956 — October 10, 2015

#1 Lighthouse Street, Yellow Elder

Evelina Christine "Tinney" Ferguson Whymns Age 58 Years of #1 Lightbourne Street,
Yellow Elder Gardens, cook her final meal at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Saturday, October 10, 2015.

She was born at Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas on Saturday, November 03, 1956.
She was the second of eight children to Stafford Whymns and Merlene Perlene Whymns.
This bundle of joy was affectionately called "Tinney" to all who came to know her.

Tinny began her early education at Columbus Primary School and completed her High School education
at R. M. Bailey High school. She was gainfully employed as a Messenger/Clerk at the Private Trust Bank
for several years. Thereafter she was employed as an On-caller at the Crystal Palace Hotel, Cable Beach.
Recognizing the gifting God had on her life she decided to activate her skills and crafts in cooking and
she proceeded to operate several restaurants before deciding to cook from her home. Hence,
she was named "The Chef" in the family. She provided catering services for all types of functions,
for family, friends, and associates and at church with regular lunch menus for business houses as well.
Whenever the family decided to celebrate a birthday, or just have a get-to-gather, it was always
"we having it by Tinney", and because she loved to show off her skills, she always agreed. She always
went the extra mile with the jerk chicken and pork, yellow rice and macaroni.
She refused to share her recipe with anyone, always saying "you won't fix it like me anyway".
She loved to sing and her favourite songs were "It's raining all around me", and "You are God Alone".
Her favourite Psalm in times of prayer was the 23rd Psalm.

Several years ago, Tinney suffered two mild strokes where she had to be admitted to hospital both
times, but she pulled through like the fighter she was. However, in May 2015 while reminiscing,
with her sister Sharon, she suffered a third stroke and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of
Princess Margaret Hospital where she was unresponsive. After the doctors gave up on her and said
she had 48 hours to live, she rallied and was transferred to the Female Surgical I ward in July and
there she remained unresponsive until she quietly passed on Saturday October 10th at 5:45 p.m.
She fought a good fight; It is finished, her battle is over.
