Euphemia Joyce Hepburn-Armbrister

November 20, 1935 — June 24, 2008

Nassau

Deaconess Euphemia Joyce Hepburn-Armbrister
Age 72 Years of #09 Danita Drive, Bamboo Town answered
the Master's call to come home, at the Princess Margaret
Hospital on Tuesday, June 24, 2008.

Euphemia was born at Orange Creek, Cat Island on
Wednesday, November 20, 1935. She received her early
education at the Orange Creek All Aged School. After leaving
school and a bit too young to enter the work force, she took
advantage of the opportunity to accompany her older sister,
Idamae and her husband John Newbold (both deceased) to
various out islands (as they were then called) to assist them
with caring for their young children.

Some years later an older, more matured 'Phemie' (as she
was affectionately called) relocated to Nassau to seek employment.
After working for a number of years in the domestic and hair
dressing field she became a homemaker and entrepreneur
who produced straw work on a made to order basis.

Like most young ladies whose life long dream was to meet
and marry their Prince Charming, she found hers in Everette
Armbrister and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on
Wednesday, September 11, 1957. This union was blessed
with four (4) lovely children, three girls and one boy.

All our lives we knew Mammy to be a Christian and a
God-fearing woman. We can recall the many church services
we attended with her as children and well into our adulthood
and how she admonished us to always put God first in everything
we did. Mammy was not a college graduate, but she ensured
that we went further than she did educationally. This support
propelled us to become successful in our respective career paths.
Additionally, she always had an encouraging word for any one
she came into contact with no matter the circumstance.

As a member of United Christian Cathedral, she served in
various positions such as choir member, church secretary,
member of the Executive Board as well as Deaconess.
