Enoch "Big Boy" Hanna Age 45 Years of Apogee Court Mermaid Boulevard,
off Carmichael Road was called from this life, to his eternal reward at the
Fresh Creek Clinic, Fresh Creek Andros, Bahamas on Sunday, August 10, 2008.
He was born at Love Hill Central, Andros Bahamas on Wednesday, April 03, 1963.
Because Enoch was such a "plump" baby and grew up this way he was affectionately called
"Big Boy." Enoch received his education at the Fresh Creek Primary School
and at Central Andros High, Love Hill Andros.
On completion of high school, Enoch seek employment at the Autec Naval Base
for a short period of time. However, because of his strong bond with his baby
sister Norma he relocated to New Providence was employed at the Ministry of
Works and served as an Office Assistant up to the time of his ailment.
At a very young age Enoch had dedicated his life to the Lord. Every one can
attest to the fact that he served his God with exemplary service. He did not drive
but very rarely had he ever missed a church service. Many Sundays and even
mid week if a volunteered ride did not pick him up in time he was delighted to
take a public bus or a taxi to wherever the service was being held.
Enoch had been a member of a few churches since his relocation to New Providence,
but he was especially fond of his cousin Bishop Tony Hanna and the Redeemed Family.
He would always express how kind and loving his pastor and his family, especially
sister Nancy were to him. Even after he had become ill they never deserted him.
Bishop Hanna and Redeemed have truly been a strong tower and pillar to this "Gem of a man of God."
A true believer in Christ, "Big Boy" knew how to demonstrate God's love.
Certainly he carried out the mandate of Jesus. He fed the hungry, visited the sick,
cared for the needy and even shared his clothing with others. There were times when
he would give away his last and his family would be upset but we did not know that
he had a quick assignment to complete down here.
"Big Boy" was indeed a "Mama's Boy." This became a reality after the
demise of his mother in 2001. Her death was very devastating to him and
because he would not be comforted, within months after her death he himself became deadly ill.
In July of 2001 while dressed awaiting his brother George to accompany him
to a funeral service Enoch had suffered a massive stroke. Even though he was
given a 2% chance to live because of his strong conviction in God he beat
all the odds that were against him.
For seven years Enoch lived a tranquilled life with his sister Pleasant.
He was not concerned about material things or disturbed about who would visit him.
Each day you would find him engulfing himself in the Word of God as he would watch
one church channel after another. What we did not know was that Enoch was preparing
himself for his departure from this world and he wore every thing as loose garments.
For five years Enoch and his "Care Giver" would go to Andros to spend the
summer months with his sister Elizabeth and her husband Donald. He would
express how he looked forward to sitting on Elizabeth's porch sucking up the
balmy breeze and this year was no exception.
However, this year's summer visit would be the last one for Enoch to visit his birthplace.
On Sunday, August 10, 2008 he had his last conservation with his sister and his care giver.
Even though he had his challenges with life he was not a late riser. On Sunday morning he
got up, sat in his favorite seat by his bedside as he awaited his breakfast. However, he was
not to eat that breakfast but one was awaiting him over in glory.
Words cannot express the kind of joy "Big Boy" brought to his family and indeed to his friends.
Enoch was a true Christian in every sense of the word. His radiant smile and boisterous laugh
brought life to anyone who came into contact with him. Enoch's favorite quote was:
"God is good all the time." Enoch loved singing, hence, the reason for Praise and Worship in
this Service. His favorite song was: The Lord Will Make A Way Some How."
"Big Boy" was indeed a loving and kind brother, uncle and nephew. He was an ardent and
passionate church member and a loyal friend.
