Emerald Louise "Mama" Thurston-Brown Age 76 Years
of Hamilton Street of Kemp Road departed this life,
at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Friday, August 07, 1998.
She was born at Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas on Tuesday, March 28, 1922.
Emerald worked in the hospitality industry, which included the Montagu Hotel.
She then worked with the Albury family until her retirement.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Bertram Brown Sr. in 1939;
this union was blessed with two sons and one daughter.
Mama as she was fondly called by family and friends was loved
by all who came in contact with her. She was soft spoken, kind
hearted and willing to share whatever she had.
Emerald loved her God, Church and family. She served on the usher board
of the St. James Native Baptist Church, were she worshiped for many years.
She never missed a Sunday. Her favorite songs were, "Dwelling In Beulah Land and To God Be The Glory".

Kareem and Kizia Brown, Deborah Cox, Wanda Munroe, Mervin McPhee,
Lavern and Anthony Ferguson;
One Step Grand Son: James Collins;
Twenty-Seven Great Grand Children Including: Marcus, Rondera,
Candice, Felix, Raquel, Linda and Demetrio;
Seven: Great, Great Grand Children;
One Sister: Rosa Ferguson;
Nine Nephews: Robert, Cornelius, Ray, Perry and Charles Thurston Jr.,
Osbourn Ferguson, Vivian, Silven and William George Smith;
Seven Nieces: Carolyn, Ruth, Rosemary, Elizabeth, Helen, Linda and Joy;
Numerous Grand Nephews and Nieces Including: Phyllis Smith, Rudolph Pratt and Michelle Lloyd;
Two Daughters-in-law: Linda and Virginia Brown;
One Brother-in-law: Elvin Brown;
Two Sisters-in-law: Louise Thurston and Mispah Albury;
Three Grand Sons-in-law: Felix Nieves, Ernest Cox and Ventrel Bouie;
