Eloise Florenthene "Loise" Lloyd-Thompson Age 72 Years #4 Hamster Road off Carmichael
Road, Chauffeured her final client at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Saturday, January 12, 2019.
She was born at Barraterre Exuma, the Bahamas on Thursday, October 31, 1946. "Loise", as she was
affectionately called by her family.
She received her education at Barraterre All Age School. A very ambitious, strong willed and
hardworking woman, Eloise set off to pursue her career as a Teacher at the Barraterre All Age
School and Jacob Rolle Christian Academy. She also ventured into the banking field where
she was employed at Scotiabank Limited. She then went on to undertake an adventure as an
awe-inspiring lunch vendor at the Livingston N. Coakley Secondary School. Students saw her
as an endearing warm-hearted individual, who displayed a caring attitude, and gave a helping hand.
Her generosity, selflessness, and determination were known to all that came in contact with her.
Later on, Eloise decided to partner with her late husband by entering the Tourism Industry as a
Taxi Driver. Being fully prepared with the knowledge of the history of Exuma and The Bahamas,
Eloise was able to enlighten her passengers as she gave them a scenic ride to their destination.
She was full of compassion and humility as she rendered professional, courteous and reliable service to all.
In 1968, she met and fell in love with the late Nigel "Blackmouth" Thompson. They were joined in holy
matrimony on 11th July, 1971. From this union they were blessed with four (4) beautiful girls, Marsha,
Sabrina, Lionella and Dinaria. A soft-spoken individual, Eloise instilled in her children and grandchildren
love, the values of life and family, and encouraged them to strive for excellence, as they put God first.
She had a deep bond and love for her daughter Dinaria, whom you would see "foot to foot behind her".
Upon her marriage, Sis Eloise moved to Farmer's Hill, where she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her
personal Saviour and was baptized by the late Rev. Dr. Irvin Clarke Sr. and became an active and faithful
member. She later joined her husband who served as an Usher and she became the first female Usher of
the Ebenezer. She also served as an officer in the Women's Ministry where she was instrumental in and
around the church. From time to time Sis Eloise would make sure that the church was clean for services
and when she was unable to make it she would ensure that her two daughters Nickey and Nettie carried
out the duties. Sis Eloise also became one of the founding members and officer of the Usher's Department
of the Exuma District Convention. She served as a member of the church choir. Sis Eloise was one of the
lead singer in the Gospel Burning Echoes, and that they spread the gospel in sound in every church in Exuma,
Exuma Cays, Long Island and New Providence.
Eloise accompanied her then Pastor the late Rev. Dr. Irvin Clarke, Sr. on evangelistic missions in Andros
where the team spent one week preaching and teaching the word of God. Eloise was one of the first
students of the EJ Rolle Institute where she completed Bible courses. Sis Eloise was always about seeking
to improve her level of service to God and would from time to time attend the National Baptist Congress
of Christian Education in the United States of America. She was a community minded persons always
willing when called upon to render service. This faithful and dedicated servant will be missed tremendously.
During November 2015, Eloise experienced a severe stroke while resting at her residence. Shortly after,
she lost consciousness and was rushed to the George Town Clinic. The Doctor's examination lead them
to air lift her to New Providence for further observation and treatment. Upon arriving at the Princess
Margaret Hospital, further tests were taken and doctors diagnosed that Eloise had experienced a stroke.
She experienced another attach (mild) on September 2018.
While resting in the company of her daughter, Dinaria and granddaughter D'Nelle, she started experiencing
respiratory problems. She was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department Trauma Section at the
Princess Margaret Hospital, where she suffered two heart failures. Sadly, God called Eloise home to be
another beautiful rose in His garden on this day, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:30 p.m.
