Elder King Hubert "Baba King" Williamson
Age 87 Years of
#39 Commonwealth Boulevard, Elizabeth Estates exchange life for eternity,
at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Thursday, April 09, 2020.
Despite it being the winter season, it was a warm day out and warm hearts
inside on the charming settlement of Pine Field, Acklins when Orien and
Bulla Mike welcomed their fourth of thirteen children into the world on
Saturday, February 25, 1933.
At a tender age, he left Acklins to attend the All Age School in Mayaguana.
Once the school in Hard Hill was built, he returned to his hometown in Acklins.
As a young man "Baba King" as he was affectionately called, wooed the heart
of the late Daisy nee Ford, who spoke of her first encounter, seeing him under
a top tree. On Saturday, February 8, 1958 they sealed their love in marriage
at Transfiguration Baptist Church. This union was blessed with nine children,
one of whom pre-deceased them. The marriage stood the test of time and
lasted for 39 years until his wife's death in 1997.
Baba King was an industrious man and worked extremely hard to secure
the well-being of his family. He has worked on the Mayaguana Queen as
a cook, Baltimore Beach Hotel, Caretaker for both Lady Solomon and
Ms. Albury, Butler and Sands and Wendell Deveaux Cleaning Company.
He could be seen around Nassau on his famous
Iron Donkey Bicycle
with
his sons in tow, training them to become responsible and productive members of society.
Baba King made the most important decision of his life when he accepted
Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. He not only talked the talk but walked
the walk in the wisdom and favour of God leading his family daily
(willingly and unwillingly) in prayer and devotions. After migrating to
Nassau, he first attended St. Peters Baptist Church and later joined
Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he served faithfully for more than 30 years
in numerous roles including: Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, President of
the Men's Fellowship and Associate Pastor. He has travelled extensively
to the Family Islands with Reverend Randolph Deleveaux, and throughout
the United States on many missionary trips spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
When his son Bishop Trevor Williamson, accepted the call of God on his
life to start Ministry, Reverend Williamson joined him and served faithfully
as an Elder at Trinity Global Cathedral until the time of his demise.
