During her life Dorian worked at a number of institutions including the National Art Gallery, the Ministry of Education, Atlantis, Bahama Sub and Leisure Tours. He last job was providing transportation for at risk boys and the girls from Pace.
Dorian was an exceptional cook who tried a number ventures from sandwiches to catering weddings. Her strawberry cheese cake and Hot Cross buns were legendary. She was also an entrepreneur establishing Vicky’s Delite and the Tea House where she sold succulent meals to her customers.
Dorian inherited the family’s singing talent and sang in Bethel Baptist Youth Choir as a youngster. Later after she trusted Jesus as Lord and Saviour she accepted invitations to sing at different churches using her talent to the honour and glory of God. She was a prayer warrior, constantly interceding for her children.
She was a fearless driver, driving dump trucks, mac trucks and jitneys. Dorian could maneuver a dump truck with expertise and drive a bus through any traffic jam.
Dorian loved animals and animals love her. In fact, when she was very young her parents thought she would be a veterinarian. Dogs and cats followed her home. When she went for daily walks, which she did for exercise at least three (3) dogs followed her, protecting her from anyone who wished to harm her. What was amazing is that these were not her dogs. Birds also flocked to her home because she fed them all the time.
In addition, she had “green fingers.” She could grow anything and her back yard was filled with bananas while the front had Noni trees. She also loved the beach. If you were looking for her you just needed to check Montagu Beach, Saunders Beach or Goodman’s Bay. You would find her on one of them.
Dorian had a good heart and was always helping people even when she had little herself. She also opened her home to many who needed her. She believed that you should have compassion on the poor as laid out in the Bible because God had a heart for the poor. She had difficulty dealing with unfairness and always wondered how people could be so unkind.
Nevertheless, Dorian was a no-nonsense person who frequently spoke her mind. She had no problem verbally putting people in their places. She had her own opinions which she voiced loudly to anyone who would listen.
Throughout her life, Dorian had a number of physical challenges. She was a known asthmatic, a condition she endured from childhood. She also had stroke in her early thirties and was diagnosed with cancer three times. The last diagnosis made in October 2025, was the most severe - stage four (4) cancer. This would take her. She fought valiantly but on Thursday 26th February she told her Aunt Patrice that she was tired and could fight no longer. At midnight her aunt called the ambulance when she seemed to have difficulty breathing and had vomited repeatedly. The ambulance transported her to the Princess Margaret Hospital where she died peacefully in the trauma room on Friday 27th February 2026.
