Dorcas Jane Sands

September 25, 1925 — September 1, 2008

Hatchet Bay

Dorcas Jane Sands Age 82 Years of Hatchet Bay Eleuthera,
passed away quietly at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Monday, September 01, 2008.

She was at Deep Creek Eleuthera, Bahamas on Friday, September 25, 1925.
She has been a life resident of Hatchet Bay Eleuthera for over fifty years.

In the 1950's she relocated to Hatchet Bay seeking employment, at the Harrisville Plantation.
Here she worked industriously as a poultry processor, until her retirement.
Having no son of her own, Dorcas cherished her God Son "Bobby" very dearly, with a mother's love.

He in turn reciprocated that love, ensuring that all her physical needs were met.
This devotion and concern was especially evident during her three months of
hospitalization, up to the time of her death and burial.

During her life time, Dorcas was a dear friend to many, especially the Cambridge Street crew
and all those in her immediate neighborhood. Despite her not being an avid church goer due
to circumstances, she displayed a very humble spirit, and was known to encourage others to
hold on to Jesus. The prayer warriors and church leaders often visited Dorcas at her residence,
praying and sharing God's word with her.
