Deacon Aristachus Nathaniel "Stachus, Pa" Wilson Age 66 Years of #463 Graham Drive,
Yellow Elder Gardens went to be with his Lord and Saviour, at the Princess Margaret Hospital
on Monday, May 05, 2008.
Pa was born on Sunday, October 19, 1941 at Duncan Town Ragged, Island Bahamas.
He was the third child and the first son to late Captain Charles Henry and Keva Eliza Wilson-Armbrister.
He was raised in a Christian home under the dutiful eyes of his doting
grandparents, the late Gustavus and Remona Wilson (nee Moxey).
He was educated at the All-Age School at Duncan Town, Ragged Island.
He was forced to curtail his education at an early age due to the early death of his father.
Due to his industrious nature in working to support his mother and siblings,
he was given the nickname 'Pa' on Ragged Island. With the decline and end
of the trade between Ragged Island and Cuba and Haiti, he went to work as
a crew-member of the MV Bimini Gal with the late Captain Willy Saunders.
He obtained this job through the efforts of the late Captain Godfrey Nesbitt.
He will often remark Godfrey treated me like a brother.
He later migrated to the island of New Providence in 1966 to seek employment.
He initially found work in the construction field. From there he did a stint as a Stevedore.
In 1968, he joined the Mission Baptist Church under the pastor ship of the
late Reverend Dr. Reuben Edward Cooper Sr. He became a devoted member
of the church serving in several capacities, serving lately as the watchman at
the annual watch night service. 1968 was also the year he met Jerelene Ferguson
formerly of Moss Town, Crooked Island. After a period of courtship, they were
married in February 1969. This union was blessed with three boys, Theodore, Dillon and Arison.
In March 1972, he was employed by the Nassau Air Dispatch at the Nassau International Airport
(now Lynden Pindling International Airport) as a porter. There he remained until his retirement
in October 2006. He looked forward to his retirement saying he would go to his island home of
Ragged Island for a few months or take a trip to Bimini to meet old friends he met years ago
while working on the MV Bimini Gal.
However, he was bothered by various ailments. He suffered a stroke on Thursday, March 20, 2008.
He was briefly hospitalized over the Easter holidays at Doctors' Hospital. He was discharged on
Tuesday, March 25, 2008. He initially appeared to make progress recovering from the stroke.
However, this was short-lived. He suffered a relapse and was admitted to the Male Medical Ward II
on Saturday, April 17, 2008. Early on the morning of Monday, May 5, 2008 he passed away.
The Monday, May 05, 2008 was a special day for Aristachus as it was on this day his uncle and
