Charles Christopher Symonette Age: 50 Years of Jamaica Avenue,
Elizabeth Estates, built his final project at Doctors Hospital West on Monday, September 28, 2020.
He was born at Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas on Saturday, March 07, 1970.
"Stinky" as he was affectionately called by his parents and his younger
siblings at that time Edward and Dornell was raised in a quaint and close
knitted family community called The Fort Hill (Fort-Fin Castle).
From a young boy Stinky displayed many gifts and talents. He made slingshots
from wood or tree branch and elastics that they used to hunt birds and lizards,
he built box carts they used as race cars, so no surprise that he became the great
carpenter that he was, even more since he is a product of skilled and old schooled
carpenters. Growing up, Charles seemed to be pro at everything he did. so much
that his peers always wanted to be on his team and when it was his turn they were
usually watching intensely in silence. Shooting marbles, skating, building toys,
repairing, and rebuilding bicycles, constructing and flying kites he enjoyed as a child.
Charles was also amusing and forgiving, he and his brother Edward made the best sense
of humor out of their punishment by their Aunty Lorraine.
As he got older, he enjoyed the sport of bowling and yet again he did that like a pro,
so much that he made the school's and national bowling teams which afforded him
opportunities to travel and get away from his younger siblings especially Edward who
caused him lots of punishment (back then, the innocent suffered for the guilty).
The sport of shooting pool became his favorite and passion and no doubt he was a
pro at that, taking after his Daddy, he made a name for himself in the sport.
Charles was always a smart boy in school. Mathematics was his favorite subject.
He attended Clarke's Pre School, T. Gibson Primary School, D. W. Davis Jr. High School
and L. W. Young Sr. High School. He has attained national certificates at all levels.
As an adult, Charles picked up another trade, boat building and repairs and worked
with his uncles Michael and Rudy. Recognizing his gift of entrepreneurship,
he began to take on side jobs in both trades and the rest is history. From time to time,
he worked comfortably with his uncles Wenzle and Tony, cousins and others.
Work and life was not happening without his partner in crime……"Alvin.",
when you see one, you saw the other.
Charlie, as he was affectionately called by many, was dearly and fondly loved
by most persons who met him. Fredericka was one that stood out and so they
married. Although they experienced unresolved differences, they remained friends.
Years later, he met Margaret "Maggie" Lightfoot, with whom he remained until his flight to eternity.
The Radiance of this "Bloodstone of A Gem" will always glow in the hearts of his:
