Charles McQueen

January 19, 1931 — November 25, 2025

Charles McQueen Age 94 Years of #7 Newbold Street, off Baillou Hill Road completed his final drive, at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

He was born at Lowe Sound Andros, The Bahamas on Monday, January 19, 1931. to Jeremiah (Jack) and Irene McQueen, Charles McQueen, known to most as "Alton" was the eldest son and second child of seven siblings.

Like many young men seeking a better life, he found himself in Florida during the "Contract" days. Once he returned to The Bahamas, he would find himself eventually employed at what was then Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC) which later was renamed Bahamas Power and Light Company (BPL). During his years at BEC, he worked as a chauffeur.

After retirement, many would come to know him as the man that sat on the porch at 7 Newbold Street off Baillou Hill Road, where he spent most of his remaining years. "Alton" like his son Charles, was not one to "keep company" and kept to himself nearly all the time.

Over the years, his health deteriorated and he had to be rushed to the trauma section of the Princess Margaret Hospital. Just when it seemed that he might recover, his health took a sudden turn for the worst, and on Tuesday, 25th September, 2025 at 9:38 a.m., just seven hours after his son, "Alton" passed away.

Nevertheless, "Alton" McQueen, like his son, Charles, will be remembered for his willingness to defend his children against anyone that would dare to harm them. He, too, was fearless to the very end.
