Captain Bernard Egbert "Big Daddy, Noah" Wilson

August 8, 1927 — January 21, 2011

Nassau

Captain Bernard Egbert "Big Daddy, Noah" Wilson Age 83 Years
of #27 Winder Terrace, Malcolm Allotment East set his compass and sailed
off into eternity at his residence on Friday, January 21, 2011.

He was born at Duncan Town Ragged the Bahamas on Monday, August 08, 1927.
He was the eldest of 11 children. He received his early education at the
Ragged Island All Age School and at age 14 like most of the other boys he
began sailing the seas with the men between Cuba, Haiti and the southern
Island trading good to support their families.

A few years he later he went on the project and then the contact. His advanced
skill in boating and seamanship earned him the nickname "Noah "as he was said
to be able to find anywhere with little problems and had no fear of the sea and its fury.
These same skills enabled him to secure a job in the summer months in the cold windy
city of Chicago, sailing a yacht for the Dewolf's. He also participated in boat racing.
This was 6 months at a time job and thus took him away from his family for long periods of time .
The voyage detoured and returning him to the Bahamas where he had several jobs as a captain of
several different vessels and plied the seas between Haiti and the Bahama islands.

Each boat captain needs a first mate to help steer the ship  thus on  Sunday, October 19, 1952
he was joined in holy matrimony to Elodea Juliette Pintard together they had 9 children.
The captain and his first mate did a superb job in providing for the remaining sailors Celestine,
Anita, Michael, Bernadette, Walter and Michelle. The grandchildren that came along for the ride
enjoyed the trip and gained much experience.

After the death of his wife and first mate in 1997 he quickly came up with a plan to turn his
home into a rental/outreach center taking in persons who fell on hard time for little and most
time no money. We would often complain, but that is how he got his joy. He was adventurous
and not afraid or the waves of life thus he tried his hand at running a restaurant/bar and a shop.

Big Daddy was a very avid reader and loved to have discussions on many topics. He knew how
to have his private cocktail parties and how to get rid of unwanted guests in a hurry.

In August 2009 he was admitted to PMH for a period of 2 weeks and thus
the journey began to slow down and near the harbor. During this time he
was cared for by his able granddaughter Samantha and daughter Bernadette
who have many for his character traits thus they jelled.
