Avery Benjamin "Scar, Chicken George" Humes Age 31 Years of Duncan Town 
Ragged Island, The Bahamas completed this walk of life, on Saturday, January 05, 2008.


Avery was born in Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas, on Tuesday, March 16, 1976.
Avery was a happy child who enjoyed growing up with his siblings, relatives and friends.
Growing up Avery always had a special bond with his identical twin brother Adrian.
They were holding hands during child birth and that is how they grew up, inseparable.


Avery received his early education at C. W. Sawyer Primary School. He later went on to
St. Johns College and graduated from government high school. His love for the sea prompts
him to seek higher education at Basra, where he took a course in boat navigation.
He also completed the Bahamas host program.

                                         
Avery was christened at all saints Anglican parish where he served as an alter boy and regularly
attended Sunday school. Avery's spiritual life blossomed at Cousin McPhee Cathedral AME Church
where he was a part of the Young Peoples Department. He was also instrumental in the construction of this church.


Avery had a hunger for knowledge which resulted in his employment as a clerk in the
attorney general's office however after visiting and falling in love with Ragged Island he
became an avid fisherman and made the island his home.


Avery was a loving and caring son, brother and uncle. He was like a father to his nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed children and spent much quality time with them. Avery enjoyed life to the fullest and a
wonderful sense of humor. Avery will always be remembered for his beautiful smile and always being well dressed.


Avery met and fell in love with Annick Cartwright. In the past years they spent much time together and
were a happy couple. Avery being family oriented was eagerly awaiting their marriage before his untimely demise.

Adopted Parents: Wayne and Mavis Cartwright;
Ten Nephews: Dominique, Carlos, Larry, Javon, David, Delano, Melvin Jr., Kristen, Brian Jr. and Adrian;
Ten Nieces: Latoya, Stacey, Phillipa, Kevonia, Shona, Melissa, Maneisa, Danielle, Malika and Adrianne;
Four Grand Nieces: Kya, Meleah, Jamia and Zion;
Four Grand Nephews: Dominique Jr., Ryan, Jamal Jr. and Nathan;
Two Uncles: Van Bethel and Paul Lockhart;
Five Aunts: Delores Mounts, Marinna Smith, Gwen Lockhart, Meta and Hazel Bethel;
Four Brothers-in-law: Phillip Stubbs, Andrew Hunt, Melvin Maycock Sr. and Kermit Moultrie;
Prize possessions his pets: Cookie and Stunner;
Numerous: God Children;
