Arimena Irene Farrington-Ranger

March 5, 1949 — December 25, 2018

Nassau

Arimena Irene "Mings" Farrington-Ranger Age 69 Years of Alice Town, Hatchet Bay Eleuthera,
gave her final service and sang her last song at the home of her daughter, #8 South Beach Drive and
Melrose Avenue on Tuesday, December 25, 2018.

The sun was bright and the air was warm in the picturesque settlement of Hatchet Bay on the island
of Eleuthera on Saturday, March 05, 1949 when Deacon Luther and Rev. Susan Farrington welcomed
their third daughter and eighth child, Arimena Irene. This beautiful baby girl was named to honor her
maternal and paternal aunts, Arimena and Irene. She was loved, cherished, and nurtured by her parents
and she transferred this love especially to her brother Cloyde who looked up to her as a caretaker,
guardian, and friend from infancy.

"Mena or Mings" as she was affectionately called, received her education at the Hatchet Bay All Age School.
Her natural love for learning made her excel as a skillful and talented individual in many respects, especially
in some of her favorite hobbies, including crocheting, sewing, cooking, and customer service.
Her appreciation for education was also evident as she helped in rearing many of her nieces and nephews.
Learning times tables and exploring the encyclopedia was common place as she nurtured and cared
for them in love.

At the age of 18, Mena left home and sought employment in New Providence. With her admirable spirit,
she made many life-time friends. Her willingness to work landed her quite a few jobs.

Her attention to detail was an asset as she served as an insurance agent at the Family Guardian Insurance
Company in the 1980s. Mena was diligent in this assignment until her transition to other work experiences,
including rendering customer service at the Shell Gas Station and Food vending. This customer service skill
advanced her to head cashier at Super Value, leading in various managerial and leadership roles.

Her last job was at the Christian Bookstore on Rosetta Street, where she was employed for four-teen (14)
years until the store's closure in 2012. It wasn't only a job to her, as she was passionate about what she did,
so much so that she operated also as a counselor to many customers, providing encouragement to them as
they journeyed through the toils of life. She provided solace to bereaved families and ensured them that the
Great Accountant was willing and able to heal their hearts. Many customers were lead to the Lord after
having had a moment with Mena. If a specific bible or hymn book was requested by a customer but was
not available in store, Mena would have it ordered immediately and notify the customer upon its arrival.
Service was always with a smile!

Her prayer is: "If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living will not be in vain!"

As a beautiful young lady living in Hatchet Bay, Mena was courted by Hansome Ranger.
This young couple married on Monday, April 12, 1971. Mena and Handsome were blessed
with three children – one daughter, Tanya Arimentha and two sons, Lucius Astley and Feliche Elrico.

Serving people and serving her God were what Mena took pleasure in and her love for her Savior was
evident from a tender age. Mings acknowledged Jesus as Lord and Savior very early in her youth and
attended St. Stephen's Baptist Church in Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera with her parents, where she played
an active role. She attended Prayer Meetings, Bible Study services, taught Sunday School, and
participated in Mother's Day and Christmas programs. She was also the church's secretary for a
period of time. Up to the date of her demise, she was a choir member at St. Stephen's.

Additionally, Mings was a choir member of Bethel Baptist Church in New Providence and also served
as their choir librarian. This role of music librarian was one that Mena was devoted to and enjoyed
immensely. As a matter of fact, Mena made arrangements to be in New Providence most recently to
prepare for the annual Christmas Cantata and Watch Night Service at Bethel Baptist Church. In the
past, this was an occasion that she looked forward to and recounted the details explicitly with all
excitement, when she would attend. She was a faithful church and choir member and travelled
extensively with the church starting from 1992 to attend the annual Progressive National Baptist
Convention. Many of these trips were experienced with some of her siblings, including Rev. Bess,
Pastor Lamb and Dea. Bobby.

Mings loved her family and went on several family vacations with her sister Bess and her niece
Monique's family. She always expressed how much she appreciated these experiences and looked
forward to the next one.

Mena earned the title "Whatsapp Evangelist", as she was a source of encouragement to all, with daily
texts, voice notes, and telephone calls. Every day she would send out a "Good morning" message and
an encouraging message where one was reminded of the goodness of our God. She communicated daily
with her family and friends and believed strongly in remaining unified and staying connected. Mings'
last words to her family and friends on Christmas Eve through Whatsapp were, "Good afternoon all.
Hope all is well."

Several times a year, Ming would travel to Miami to spend time with her nieces. There she would make
a point in attending church on Sundays and helping to prepare Sunday dinner. She made herself available
to assist in any area that she saw fit.

"Mings" was passionate about keeping the family together and served selflessly and with total devotion
as Treasurer for the Luther and Susan Hutcheson Farrington Family Reunion. Along with the formal
role of treasurer, she was involved in the organization of the family events and gatherings and other
operational affairs to ensure that not only the events of the Reunion were executed with fidelity but
that the younger generation would see the importance of family unity and live with bonds that cannot
be broken. She was the co-captain of the Jerome Jammers, one of the teams of the Luther and Susan
Hutcheson-Farrington Reunion Group and was instrumental in the many victories attained by the team.
Her words to the youth of the family during one of our reunions were "…Get all the education you can.
Study hard and make the Bible an intricate part of that study. If in all your getting you forget God, all of
that will be in vain. Remember, God is watching each of you daily. He sees what you do when your
parents don't see, and you can be sure that He will bring everything you do into judgement.
So I encourage you to seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all His righteousness and all these
things shall be added unto you."

Mena was mission-driven and availed herself with the affairs of the church and her family.
She was given the name, "Genda" because she always had an "agenda." Whether in Nassau or
Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera, Mings would willingly and gladly carryout any of the shopping or
business affairs that friends and family needed to be done. She was a woman of service and
sacrifice and saw nothing as too good or too much for her loved ones. To formally recognize
Mings as a woman of dedication and fortitude, she was honored by St. Stephen's Baptist
Church in November of 2017.

"Mings" was blessed by God Almighty to live 25,475 days and she understood the urgency
to live everyday as if it truly was her last, making a considerable impact with those far and near.

Although death also visited Mings like a thief in the night, her soul was ready, and her election
was made sure. She humbly uttered, "Master speak, Thy servant Arimena Irene Farrington Ranger
hears…I am listening, Lord for Thee. Master Speak, oh, speak to me!" During the early morning of
Tuesday, December 25, 2018 God called and Mings answered. Although her family did not anticipate
that she would join her loved ones who had gone on before so soon, God wanted her voice to be a part
of that heavenly choir. She now sings beautifully with the angelic host.
